Ortiz In Boston For MRI

David Ortiz is back in Boston today having an MRI on his strained left wrist:
I've never felt anything like this before. I've been swinging my whole life. I just took a swing like I normally do, and pop.
Orioles third base coach Juan Samuel, to Bartolo Colon as Colon walked off the field in the seventh inning yesterday: "You've got your shit back."

  1. Time to give Bonds a call. ; )

  3. Nah, not Bonds. If we need a stop-gap donger for a few weeks, bring back Dougie! :)

Of course, I hope/pray that Papi is just fine and only needs a few days off.

  4. I heard Cincinnati's thinking of moving Griffey....

  5. I sure hope Papi's OK. If it's the worst, at least we have a good backup DH in Manny and three starting outfielders. It might be a good thing we kept Coco around.
I like the Griffey option, tho'. Give them Timlin for him!

  6. Let Manny DH and we can have the fastest outfield of all time.

  7. Imagine replacing one of the most upbeat, joyous presences in a clubhouse with the most self-centered, dark and glowering presences since Alex Johnson.

Nobody is going to be silly enough to pick up Bonds. It's a mystery to me why so many pundits seem to think it's even a possibility. They appear to be unaware of the well-established "let's not hire an indicted felon" principle.

I'm confident the Sox could weather the loss of Papi's bat for quite a while, if it came to that.

  8. Dark and glowering? Jack, I know you hate Bonds, but have you ever seen him either dark or glowering? I never have.

I wouldn't expect you to be so susceptible to regurgitating media-speak.

  9. How confident are you about which expletive was intended? Perhaps he was quoting Josh "Get out of here, you fucking cunt"* Beckett.

*Beckett to Joba last fall when Joba went headhunting and got tossed.

  10. Yikes, Laura---he's an angry, guarded, confrontational guy. I've seen plenty of his interviews. He may not be Albert Belle, but I don't think "dark and glowering" is unfair at all. And compared to Ortiz, I'M "dark and glowering"...

Your deference to Bonds, one of the genuine bad guys in sports, continues to mystify me.

  11. Like I said, I've seen no evidence of it. He always seems affable and considerate to me, except when the media goes out of their way to push every button. And even then, he's not as bad as he could be, just impatient.

You must watch different interviews than me.

  12. Hi, everyone. Just joining in. I feel like I haven't seen a game in so long...

  13. I think Barry just likes you, Laura.

  14. I have talked with a few people who are worried. I am not. As Timmy pointed out earlier to me, so you move Manny to DH and let him rest for a while. You play Coco and Ellsbury and there are worse things that can happen. Yes, you lose the 1-2 punch in your order, but you still have a pretty nasty offensive machine and wouldn't we rather have this happen in August then October.

    Get Well Soon Papi.
