NYP: Manny's Revenge

George A. King III, Post:
According to people who have spoken to the eccentric outfielder since he was dealt to L.A. on July 31, Ramirez wants to sign a free-agent deal with the Yankees this offseason and get 19 chances a year to punish Boston.

"He wants to play for the Yankees so he can get at the Red Sox," a close friend of Ramirez's told The Post.
Manny doesn't seem like a grudge-holding kind of guy. Plus, Boston gave him what he apparently wanted -- the opportunity to be a free agent after this season.

Meanwhile, it looks like Dan Shaughnessy's claim that Bud Selig's office "is investigating the circumstances of Manny's final hours with the Red Sox" (a supposed scoop that he buried in the 13th paragraph of his Friday column) is bogus.

Fellow Globe writer Amalie Benjamin states that "'investigation' might be too strong a word" and the Herald reports that "multiple baseball sources indicated yesterday that a formal investigation into the Manny Ramirez trade was never launched".

  1. DSW has been good. Fish in a barrel and all that, but still ... never hurts to point it out.

  3. sure, let Manny play for the Hankees.
They will give him 4 yrs @25 mil.
He can add his "bum" knees to Passedballa's bum right shoulder and Noodle arm's left sholder. Mixed in with Pavano's perfect contract (and maybe an extension) , maybe there is a 13 mil. option on I-Rod so he can hit at Mendoza line for a third of the season (and get run over at the plate) ,and possibly a monster deal for smirk face Abreu. .
We can then watch the 2009-2012 version of 2008 Detroit Tigers

  4. Don't forget Shemp. They already got 3-4 DHs over there already. I can't see it happening.

  5. I don't see it either. But all the people who were so happy to see Manny go should be gleeful at the thought of Manny as a Yankee. If he's a lazy bum who disrespects the game, wouldn't we want NYY to get him?

Oh no, he's only the greatest player ever and now with the Yankees getting him they'll be SO MUCH better! Very true L...why wouldn't everyone want MFY to get this supposed lackadaisical outfielder, who walks to first whenever he hits and is a cancer to the clubhouse?!
