G83: Rays 6, Red Sox 5

Red Sox - 004 100 000 - 5 10 0
Rays - 100 022 10x - 6 10 0
Boston battered Garza (3-7-4-2-1, 84) in the third after he had retired the first two batters. Eric Patterson homered -- he would also hit a dong in the fourth -- and then there was a walk, double, and three singles. The Red Sox led 5-1.

Dice (5-8-5-4-4, 112) gave the lead away, however, as he was unable to retire any of the first four batters in the sixth. Ramon Ramirez allowed two singles to the start the seventh, and a sacrifice fly scored the go-ahead run.

In addition to his two homers, Patterson doubled in the seventh. David Ortiz walked three times and singled.
Example
Daisuke Matsuzaka / Matt Garza
Scutaro, SS
Patterson, LF
Ortiz, DH
Youkilis, 1B
Beltre, 3B
Drew, RF
Hall, 2B
Cameron, CF
Cash, C
These guys faced each other last Wednesday, and their lines were very similar: Garza (7-6-3-2-5, 110); Dice (6-4-3-4-7, 111). The Rays teed off on Manny Delcarmen in the eighth and won 9-4.

Out west:
Yankees/A's, 10 PM
Help! I would like a permanent description/subtitle thing. Any old or new ideas that are funny, straight-forward, or just plain neato?
Example
July 5: The New York Giants become the first team to use a public address system (1929), Cleveland's Larry Doby is the first black player in American League history (1947), and the A's and Angels set a record for the most runs scored in the first inning (Oakland 13-3) (1996).

  4. I've got TB network. I'll probably be setting up the computer soon.

Flipping through the channels, we found a Tina Turner concert from Holland filmed in 2009. Wow, it was incredible. At age 70, she still has it. Great singing, dancing, and her legs still look pretty damn good. Amazingly sexy dancers on tour with her, well choreographed by Toni Basil.

We also went to see Toy Story 3. Very good movie. Bring the tissues, though.

    Stinky double play.

  8. Nice catch.

    PATTERSON!!!

My husband: I'm surprised Crawford didn't sprint over there and catch it (in his sarcastic voice).

  9. The movie was very relevant to me. My son was two when the first movie came out and he still has his Buzz Lightyear. He is 17 and headed to college next year. Very touching.

  10. I have never seen any of the Toy Story movies.

  11. SAFE!! Get that hand in there, Wheels.

  12. Catcher was out of position. I think he has him if he is at the plate instead of in front of it.

John Jaso would also be dead if he'd tried to block the plate there.

  14. Good story lines about toys and their relationships with their owners. I think TS3 is the best of the bunch.

  15. only angle nesn showed was no help in seeing where he was.

Good point there. I guess your life is worth more than a run.

  17. Keep it going!!! You gotta love 4 run innings.

  18. With all this excitement, I forgot that Crawford looked like he got hurt on that diving catch. I want to monitor that situation.

  27. Wow, Cash, at least take a pitch.

  28. It certainly is nice to have the spitter out of the game (for numerous reasons).

  29. Is Patterson batting in the 2 spot? Do we just not care about lineup order at all anymore?

    ReplyDelete
  30. I was moaning to myself about that last inning, thinking about his .260-ish OBP. Then he donged!

    ReplyDelete
  31. Then he donged!

  36. I'm listening to the radio, and OB did give me partial wood there for a second.

He's pretty good about being cautiously optimistic.

    ReplyDelete
  37. Who the fuck is Patterson and why is he so goddamn dongtacular?

    ReplyDelete
  38. Hey Tim, are you on the thread?

    ReplyDelete
  39. Our bullpen is way to thin to give these guys any more runs.

    ReplyDelete
  41. Oooo, let's see how he wriggles out of this one.

    ReplyDelete
  42. was he out? seems very hard to say with nesn's weak replays.

    ReplyDelete
  43. I guess that's what happens when he pitches to contact.

BTW, I think he was safe at the plate.

No power outage in Mississauga. Blogger was just being weird, not posting comments.

    ReplyDelete
  56. Actually, a power outage in TO wouldn't have stopped the thread. Moderation was off.

    ReplyDelete
  57. So now all the comments are here?

Stupid blogger, really has to lay off the booze.

    ReplyDelete
  58. I don't know whether all the comments appeared or not. I think not.

    ReplyDelete
  59. Tito blew that game. Batting Patterson 2nd? PRing Cameron instead of PHing? Oh, and let's not forget the pure stupidity of not using a decent reliever in 7th, 8th. GOD FORBID we use our closer in non-save situation.
