  1. As my mother in law used to say whenever anybody said something good was going to happen, "Poo-poo-poo." I think it was supposed to ward off the Evil Eye. So, poo-poo-poo.

    Poo-poo-poo must have been the verbal equivalent of the little spit-spit-spit (kind of miming a spit) you were supposed to do, through your fingers in a V shape - the kaynahorah, the evil eye - the Yiddish "knock wood".

    My elderly relatives always did that when they heard good news.
