Big News: I signed a book contract this afternoon!
I'm writing a book for Triumph, based on an idea that I have been developing for more than a year. For now, all I can say is that it's about October 2004. It will be published next March, in plenty of time to join what I hope will be a season-long celebration of the 10th anniversary of the World Series championship many of us thought we would never see. Working with me on the project is Bill Nowlin, who has written many Red Sox-related books.
What does this mean for Joy of Sox? I'm not completely sure. While the blog will be on the back burner, I do hope to post periodically.

The full membership requirements are in the BBWAA constitution. Essentially, you must be a beat writer, backup writer, columnist or sports editor from a newspaper or wire service that covers Major League Baseball on a regular basis. Membership has been expanded to include web sites on a case-by-case basis.
No way! This is great news, good for you Allan - looking forward to it. If it has half the detail that 1918 did, it will be a great read. That book was phenomenal in terms of information --- can't imagine how many hours of research went into it, but your effort definitely showed in the finished product...

Re: 1918 praise - trying to catch up on lost time! For such a fantastic book (sorry, not trying to kiss ass here!) it hasn't gotten nearly as much praise in comments as it should.

ReplyDeleteI'm disappointed that many regular readers apparently don't own a copy. For all Allan puts into this blog, and for all the enjoyment people get from it, buying a copy of his book would be an easy way to say thank you.
