G162: Orioles 7, Red Sox 6

Red Sox - 220 100 001 - 6 13 0
Orioles - 000 052 00x - 7 10 1
The Red Sox finish the 2013 regular season with a 97-65 record.

Which means that (thanks to the first tiebreaker) Chris S is the W-L Contest winner!

While the Red Sox play their only meaningless game of the 2013 season - although a win will give them the best record in MLB - all eyes will be on three other games which will begin to determine who Boston will play on Friday at Fenway Park in ALDS 1.

  1. "a win will give them the best record in MLB"

And a loss will mean NYY can finish no better than tied for third. Houston would have to come through, though, for them to finish alone in fourth.

I can't wait to see how this WC race shakes out today--I am rooting for the most possible games to be played, leaving us with a depleted opponent in the ALDS.

  2. Naturally I hope for everything, but I don't really care what happens next: they own the East! And that's good enough for me.

After a season of misery we only wish we could forget, they've given us an unforgettable season we can only marvel and wonder at. The rest, however it goes, is lagniappe.
