Jake Arrieta finished the season with a 22-6 record and a 1.77 earned-run average. Arrieta is the fifth pitcher to have at least 22 wins with no more than six losses and an ERA under 2.00 in the earned-run era (since 1912 in the N.L., 1913 in the A.L.). The others to do that are Sandy Koufax (1963), Denny McLain (1968), Ron Guidry (1978) and Dwight Gooden (1985). All of the previous four pitchers were unanimous winners of the Cy Young Award that season. Arrieta finished the season strong, going 11-0 with a 0.41 earned-run average over his last 12 starts. Arrieta is the only pitcher in the earned-run era to go 11-0 or better with an ERA that low over a 12-start span. Honorable mention goes to Bob Gibson, who went 12-0 with a 0.50 ERA over a 12-start span in 1968.

Chris Sale struck out seven batters on Friday night giving him a White Sox team record 274 for the season. Hall of Famer Ed Walsh struck out a 269 batters in 1908 and held the White Sox record for 107 years!

Carlos Santana knocked in three runs with a bases-loaded double in the Indians' win over the Red Sox. Santana entered the game with a .154 batting average with the bases loaded this season, the fourth-lowest such batting average among American League players with at least 10 at-bats in those situations, ahead of Justin Smoak (.083), Hanley Ramirez (.091) and David Ortiz (.100).
