  2. I don't take credit for saying this, but someone earlier this season opined: "David Ortiz may not be the best player to ever wear a Red Sox uniform, but he was the most important player ever to do so."

You were one bad motherfucker between the lines, Flo, and I mean that truly.

  3. I am so sad to think we will never get to see him swing the bat again. All those memories from 2003 on will always be in our heads and hearts. He really was the Big Papi of the Red Sox 2003-2016. :(

  4. Agreed , Flo was the perfect man in the perfect place at the perfect time ............ Heard the Radio Call of Dave Roberts steal the other night & thought about what might have been IF ........ Nah , we'd have won it in 05 instead !!!!!!!! Some things are just meant to be .........

  5. I'm happy that he rose above the negative talk of the stupid fans and writers who were on his case for any number of things, including the looks of his daughter. Was that back in 2012?

I'm happy that he is now universally embraced, just as he universally embraces.

    An amazing man.

  6. Speaking of Destiny , my thinking is Tribe v Cubs ....... are you having a Competition Allan - how about re-naming it the Big Papi Trophy !!!!!!!! No Prize , just the honour of being the years Winner ! Pick the ALCS & NLCS & WS in Games & whoever gets closest wins the Big Papi Cup ! Even if its only the WS , the Comp should be named in the Big Fella's Honour.

Cheers & Many Thanks David for all those nights I will never ever ever forget ...........

Considering the history of the franchise, I cannot imagine anyone in the future being more important than Ortiz.

Thanks to you Allan for all your hard work making it more enjoyable and interesting.

    Retire well Big Papi!

  9. Not having Ortiz in uniform feels like the world without Robin Williams and George Carlin. There's a huge void that can't be filled, and something is just wrong.

Allan, many thanks for this blog and for the courageous expression of your convictions.
