I will be away for the next two weeks, exploring six Ontario provincial parks with Laura - and Diego. Yesterday, we drove four hours north from Mississauga. We will spend part of tomorrow in Sudbury, then head east west to Sault Ste. Marie, and north and west around Lake Superior, going as far as Thunder Bay. Three parks on the way out and three on the return.

At least two of the parks have beaches where dogs can run off-lease. Diego is going to have the time of his life - he loves the beach and he'll get to live in the car! ... I think I'm more excited for him than I am for myself.

Watching or listening to the Red Sox would be a very relaxing thing to do at the end of each day, but I doubt we will have enough internet access (or data). I don't think I'll be posting anything until September 24. [UPDATED!]

  1. Dang! Will miss your write-ups. Did you consider getting a guest blogger for this duration (I don't have the baseball package so can't do it), but maybe someone could help?

  3. Have a safe trip, I'll miss your commentary. I grew up in Kingston, ON., on the north shore where the Great Lakes morph into the mighty St. Lawrence River. I remember fondly the summer of '67 (yes, among other things), when, as a student, I was lucky enough to have a summer job with the Parks Dept., but 3 of my buddies were jobless and decided to go "out west" to look for summer work. They bought an old car and went, and to this day, while regaling all who will listen with the same old tales, still can't get over that after 3 solid days of dawn to dusk driving, they were still in Ontario. Happy travels!

  6. 100 WINS !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well belt me with a Shovel ........ That is something I never ever expected to see in my lifetime ........

I always used to laugh each year when Laura went Triple Digits ........ Now we know she was on the Truth Serum !!!!!!!

If you look around in those Parks you might find some Trees , Cabins , Bones etc. that pre-date the last Century season more than 7 decades ago

    Well Done Sox

Now there is only 1 thing left to do until Oct - beat the MFY ....... and then beat em again !

  7. Alan, I am lost without without this blog. I've read enough panicked BS today for the entire year.

It's a meaningless series September series. It would have been nice to see a solid start from Price, but oh well. Brasier will be fine in October. Bad pitch selection and a hanging breaking ball to Neil Walker on Tuesday.

Here's hoping the pop the corks tonight.

    Well Done to All

Now we gotta hope that those Oakland Athletics become VERY athletic ........ although you know the old expression - be careful what you wish for !

  9. With the win over Cleveland Friday night, the 2018 Bosox won their 105th game in their 154th game of the season, just like the 1912 team did. (The 1912 team's record was a smidgeon better, at 105-47-2.)
