Truck Day!

Today is Truck Day!

Al Hartz has been driving the Red Sox's equipment truck to spring training since the late 1990s. Part of the load this year: 20,400 baseballs, 1,100 bats, 200 batting gloves, 200 batting helmets, 320 batting practice tops, 160 white game jerseys, 300 pairs of pants, 400 T-shirts, 400 pairs of socks, 20 cases of bubble gum, and 60 cases of sunflower seeds.

Pitchers and catchers report on February 11; position players are due February 16.

Sean McAdam (Boston Sports Journal) expects the Red Sox to have a "very newsworthy week".
Between now and the end of the week, the Sox could very well:
- hire a manager to replace Alex Cora.

- trade Mookie Betts, their best player.

- find out what punishment — if any — they're facing from the investigation into the 2018 sign-stealing scandal.
Chief baseball officer Chaim Bloom hasn't firmly committed to hiring a manager before the start of spring training, but he's made it clear that that would be his strong preference. It would be pretty awkward for the Sox to arrive at Fenway South without a manager.

Sure, they could get by for a few days. But the organization would undoubtedly prefer to have a manager in place, and further, would prefer to make that announcement in Boston this week, rather than Fort Myers next week.

  2. Regarding channel 25's graphic, it's hard to tell in this case, but based on the positioning of the stitches on the ball, the verdict: OLD LOGO.

But hey, they only changed it 11 years ago, the Red Sox aren't a very popular team, and channel 25 is nowhere near where the Red Sox play, so how can you expect them to have heard about this change.....
