G39: Blue Jays 8, Red Sox 7 (7)

Blue Jays - 031 013 0 - 8 11 0
Red Sox - 020 023 0 - 7 11 1
The Red Sox trailed 0-3, 2-5, and 4-8, and kept coming back, but ran out of innings before they could actually take a lead. Boston has lost five games in a row.

Zach Godley (3-5-4-1-4, 51) was disappointing yet again and now has an 8.16 ERA. Alex Verdugo's error on a fly ball in the intense afternoon sun in right field led to Toronto's three runs in the sixth.

Yairo Muñoz singled, doubled, and homered; he scored three times and drove in three runs. Alex Verdugo, Kevin Plawecki, and Michael Chavis each had two hits.

All of Boston's RBIs were from the bottom three hitters in the order: Muñoz (3), Chavis (1), José Peraza (2).

The Red Sox will be forced to sully themselves with two seven-inning games of a doubleheader with the Blue Jays. #FireManfred. ... Even if both games were to last two extra-innings so they would appear like proper baseball games in the linescores, they'd have to play two innings each with the Initial Runner on Second.

Colten Brewer is on the IL with a strained middle finger. ... Red Sox fans should relate since they have been giving the middle finger to this season since it began.
