Schadenfreude 16 (A Continuing Series)

Daily News:
Chipper Jones says Barry Bonds and Alex Rodriguez have plenty in common, and that might not be a good thing for the Yankee slugger.

Jones, certainly no fan favorite in Queens, stirred up things on the other side of town last night when he said the same steroid questions that have dogged Bonds for years will soon hang over A-Rod, especially if he makes a run at the all-time home run record.

"There's going to be the questions because his name's been brought up," Jones told the Associated Press before last night's game at Shea. "If I had to pose a guess on A-Rod, I would say no. But I don't know. He's going to have to answer the questions. And that goes for everybody that approaches the number."
Post:
Jones told two reporters before the game that, given Jose Canseco's recent allegations of possibly incriminating evidence against the Yankees slugger, Rodriguez should watch out.

"I don't doubt it. There's been a lot of validation to some of the things that Jose Canseco has said over the years," Jones said. "At first when it came out, a lot of people didn't want to give him a lot of credit.

"But a lot of it has been proven true. Now, when he opens his mouth, people listen. ..."

After writing the book "Juiced" and exposing some of the game's biggest sluggers as steroid users, Canseco reportedly told a Boston radio station he had "other stuff" on Rodriguez. Canseco also reportedly called A-Rod a "hypocrite" and "not all he appeared to be."

  1. He also called Shilling a hypocrite. Not for sure, but I think that interview is in the WEEI vault for the big show.

The interview was back around the All star break.

  2. I guess the Daily News rumour mill gives everyone the next Alex Rodriguez nickname.
