Francona
says he will not pitch Josh Beckett in Game 4. That
may give you a chance to win a game, it may not, but it doesn't set up the rest of the series. We really value the rest that Schilling can get, and Daisuke also. It's not just one guy that it affects -- it affects three guys in the rotation.
Dice, on his tolerance of infestation:
If there were those bugs, it would be difficult to maintain concentration. But maybe it won't be a problem. The best thing will be if there's no bugs on the field, of course. ... I did bring along some bug spray.
Daisuke is proving to be a very fickle pitcher, isn't he?
ReplyDeleteShades of Mike Mussina? Without the complaining...
I will be happy with anyone starting. I just don't want to see Gagne anywhere near the mound.
ReplyDeleteI personally think Gagne should be tossed off a wharf into Lake Erie, but that's just my $0.02.
ReplyDelete(so he can swim his way back to Canada....or realistically, walk...that lake is only like 2 feet deep)
ReplyDeleteAssuming the Red Sox win the ALCS and go on to the World Series, I would be very angry to see Gagné on the roster. You'd essentially be playing with 24 guys. Why not replace him with Lips, who has been with the club all season and who has won or kep the Red Sox in a bunch of games this season? I would have felt better with Tavarez on the mound in the 11th, and if he coughs it up, well, that sucks.
ReplyDeleteBucholz! Bucholz! Bucholz!
ReplyDeleteWell, looks like we are all in agreement here. Is there anyone out there who thinks Gagne SHOULD be on the WS roster (not that I am taking anything for granted)?
ReplyDeleteI was firmly of the opinion that Gagne was having bad luck and needed another chance. After he loaded the bases in the ninth in our 10-3, I gave up on him. Even though a run didn't score, I just felt there wasn't time for him to work it out (whatever it is). Maybe I'm late to the party.
ReplyDeleteBut it's hard to toss him in favor of Julian, isn't it? I prize Julian for his flexibility, his insanity, and his balls. But he's been known to give up some serious runs. How about Snyder?
Not that we're anywhere near contemplating the WS roster. Losing Saturday was a kick in the nuts.
