What Beckett Threw

All 108 pitches, thanks to Eric Van.

83 strikes and 25 balls! (At one point -- facing Vlad in the 4th to the end of the 6th -- Beckett faced eight batters and threw only four balls (out of 26 pitches).)

On the other side, Red Sox batters swung at missed only six times (three of those from Manny). Gammons's blog:
On Monday, hitting coach Dave Magadan went through advance guru Dana Levangie's report and begged hitters to try to lay off Lackey's slider and curveball out of the strike zone. Not one Boston hitter swung at a pitch out of the strike zone from Lackey.

Is it Friday yet?

So Tito wasn't exaggerating when he kept saying, "we didn't swing at one ball"? That's really incredible.

I love that Levangie's getting credit! I always liked that guy.

If the game were that easy, I dare say we'd be at 130 wins.

Um, wtf? I thought the series with the wild card winner always started at the division winner's stadium just because they WON THE DIVISION. I'm sure I was just ignorant at it before, but wild card winners with HFA? That's not cool.

NICE! I love it when a plan comes together!

So let me get this right... Lackey didnt have even one called strike? WOW.

allan said...

No, he had called strikes -- 23 by my count.

I think what it means is that the Sox did not chase any pitches that were out of the zone. That may not be 100% accurate anyway.

Yeah how would anybody know that sometimes balls get hit for hits or foul balls. I could have sworn Manny swung at a ball.

I have no idea what you're talking about, Tim.

CC is not looking good so far vs. the freakin' Yanks. Damon homers to begin...then two walks. Ugh.

CC settled down, but I'm really pissed they ended that inning on the basepaths. They should've tacked on.

I also don't get what Tim's saying, unless he's making the joke that "everyone assumed the Sox would blow the division, so how could we possibly have the home field..."

9-3 in the 6th. Where is everybody?

this is awesome

Yeah. The wild card winners don't get home-field. Especially not this year. Colorado is in Philly, and the Yankees are in Cleveland.

And they're LOSING!!!!!!

Oh man. I'm so happy I could cry right now. But I won't.

How about these two guys for your heroes today: Kaz Matsui for the Rockies, and Kenny Lofton for the Indians!

Final:

Cleveland 12
Chokers 3

Awesome job Tribe. Now we need that from you for two more games and then maybe lighten that up if you face us.

WHAT THE FUCK. i'm so fucking confused...i assumed this series had CLE with HFA, then on TBS the other night they mentioned "3 series starting at baseball shrines" fenway, yankee stadium and wrigley - I knew wrigley was wrong and figured Yankee Stadium was wrong too. I posted about it in yesterday's thread but didn't get a response.

Then I read a fucking article today that made it sound like tonight's game was in the Bronx. ARGH - what the hell. This just proves to me not to listen to any media shit. I never bothered to consult the actual schedule cause I couldnt care less, and was assured it was in cleveland. but seriously, this is fucking retarded...the fact that i kept reading stories about them playing in new york.

"Where does the Mets collapse rank?"

A Fox Sports report...nuts to the Mets - #1 of the list of collapses is glorious.

The BP story I mentioned a few days ago was updated and the Mets were at #2 all-time.
