Rollins was decidedly not the MVP (as FJM points out), but that's not important.
A Phillies fan who writes the Crashburn Alley blog emailed Conlin and made the case for David Wright of the Mets. Conlin was not very polite in his responses. Indeed, during the discussion, Conlin wrote:
The only positive thing I can think of about Hitler's time on earth – I'm sure he would have eliminated all bloggers. In Colonial times, bloggers were called "Pamphleteers." They hung on street corners handing them out to passersby. Now, they hang out on electronic street corners, hoping somebody mouses on to their pretentious sites. Different medium, same MO.A commenter asks:
By the way, does Conlin realize that the "Colonial pamphleteers" he's comparing to bloggers were the ones who instigated and led the American Revolution? So he's placing bloggers in the company of Benjamin Franklin, Thomas Paine, and Alexander Hamilton ... and siding with Hitler and King George III.And while we're chatting about the Third Reich, remember when Michael Kay compared the idea of an announcer "jinxing" a no-hitter with the Nazis marching people into ovens?
(Audio? You better believe there's audio.)
Godwins Law!!!!! from a fragging sports writer, unfragging believable.
ReplyDeleteThe weird thing about this to me is how this guy thought about something he doesn't like, and tried to come up with a historical figure who might have had the power to stop this "evil." And he comes up with Hitler??? Doesn't that tell you that whenever this guy sees injustice, he thinks, "If only Hitler were around to solve this problem"? He may as well have said, "If nothing else, Hitler did do a fine job of getting rid of things that nobody likes. Like Jews."
ReplyDeleteconlin must not grasp the fact that bloggers are the current version of power to the people (and it's stonger than it's ever been in history)
ReplyDeleteabout michael kay: that was funny.
even tho that guy was pissing me off saying 'it's just baseball etiquette' over and over (cause, no, that's not a reason pal. fuggin THINK) it was still crazy to suddenly *mention the war* and compare orders followed under penalty of death with a superstition having to do with sports. he is clearly a bitter and unhappy man who maybe needs a hug :) (and a slap;))
hilarious
ReplyDelete"I think your ear's bleeding."
ReplyDeleteKlassic Kommentary from Kay.
This, as s1c says, is unfragging believeable.
ReplyDeleteHitler. Bloggers.
What is wrong with these people.
What.
L-girl offers more thoughts here.
ReplyDeleteConlin: "I'm not an anti-Semite -- I'm friends with a Jew!"
ReplyDeleteOh boy.
Not to go off topic, but the Globe's Buzz is suggesting that the Sox are getting around offering Ellsbury for Santana by offering Coco and Lester ... AND Lowrie AND Masterson.
ReplyDeleteThat's a lot. Isn't it?
Five guys is steep, yeah.
ReplyDeleteBut Boston has to surrender either Buchholz or Ellsbury to get a deal done. As with the Beckett deal, you gotta give up something to get something.
I would prefer LBJ goes and we "manage" with Coco in CF.
A rotation of: Santana-Beckett-Dice-Schilling-Clay would be awesome, esp. in October.
WEEI is saying that Sox are the front runners for Santana - Coco, Lester, Lowrie and Masterson!!!!!
ReplyDeleteSt. Paul pioneer press is their source
here is the link for the trade Pioneer / TwinCities.com
ReplyDeleteI make that deal. The Twins are looking for prosspects as they are trading like a bandit, Delmon Young is now a Twin, etc.
5?
ReplyDeleteIf coco, lester, lowrie, and masterson could really get this deal done...i have to think it'd be done already. Unless the sox know something we don't about santana, that's a hell of a deal.
New post up. Feel free to repost the recent comments.
ReplyDeleteI think that "Hitler hated VORP" might be the best headline ever... And seeing how he was an artistic-type, vegetarian and prone to romantic far Eastern ideas, may even be true.
ReplyDeleteI'm not sure I could get sick of saying "Vorp" out loud to myself. Vorp. Vorp. Vorp.
ReplyDeleteWell, maybe a little.
Don't do the deal for Santana. Lester, Bowden and Lowrie will contribute more than Santana, who may well be past his prime. Plus, opening the vault makes us less of a smarter franchise, and more of a big money player. Win on skill, not $$$
ReplyDeletePlus, opening the vault makes us less of a smarter franchise, and more of a big money player.
ReplyDeleteBut which makes us a winning team?
Win on skill, not $$$
Takes $$$ to get skill. Took $$$ to get Pedro, Manny, Schilling, Beckett, etc. etc. etc.
What does this make this Conlin retard? Goebbels?
ReplyDeleteOh the sanctimony of the press. They feel the heat of people better at what they do than them.. That's the sound of extinction folks......
