The Red Sox scored four times in the top of the first inning before making an out -- Ellsbury singled, Pedroia singled, Drew homered, Lowell homered.

Drew went 4-for-5, adding two singles and a double to his home run. Pedroia had three hits. Brandon Moss drove in two runs in the third as a pinch-hitter for Coco Crisp, who left with discomfort in his left hand.

Masterson (5-4-2-2-1, 92) got credit for his fourth win of the season.

Z: Unbelievable. I wondered if the Yanks would be so desperate and tasteless as to sign that uber-creep Ponson, and decided, Naaaah! Even the Yankees aren't that classless. Stupid me. Can Rafael Palmeiro be far away?

Interleague play makes EVERYBODY in the AL look unbeatable. The NL is just sad.

Just got a bulletin that Schilling is going under the knife, and is gone for the year (and, I would bet, for good---certainly in Sox threads.) Too bad, not that I think he'll be needed with seven solid starters already. I guess his doctors were right after all.
