Rays - 400 001 100 - 6 5 0With two outs in the seventh, Scutaro singled, Pedroia homered, Martinez singled, and Youkilis homered -- and it looked like the diehards who stuck around cold, damp Fenway might be rewarded.
Red Sox - 000 010 400 - 5 11 2
But no. In the eighth, Lowell led off with a single and Mike Cameron walked, but Jeremy Hermida struck out and Scutaro popped to right. And Pedroia, Martinez, and Youkilis went in order on only nine pitches in the ninth.
An error by Cameron on an easy fly ball should have ended the top of the first. Instead, it left the door open for Tampa to torment Buchholz for 44 pitches and four unearned runs.James Shields / Clay Buchholz
Small Game James at Fenway: 0-6 in six starts, 8.04 ERA and a 1.893 WHIP, having allowed 43 hits and 10 walks in 28 innings.
Dustin Pedroia (.455/.500/.636), J.D. Drew (.417/.481/.833), and David Ortiz (.391/.481/.870) have fun facing Shields.
Current members of the Rays are hitting only .222/.300/.286 against Buchholz (in 70 plate appearances).* following end of Friday's suspended game.
On to the next game.
ReplyDeleteHey everyone! How was everyone's day? Better than the last 10 minutes I hope.
ReplyDeleteMy day has been pretty much shitty since 12.
ReplyDeleteWhen will it start?
ReplyDeleteMine improved 30 mins ago when my new co-worker went home.
ReplyDeleteThey said 30 minutes after the end of game one. Maybe more because of the wet field, though.
ReplyDeleteWe got boned out of that last game, we should have been allowed to play the bottom of the 9th last night.
ReplyDeletelol, having fun with this new co-worker eh L?
ReplyDeleteand your day is about to get better allan, after we light up shields here.
my day is getting better already. except i'm kind of pissed the $9 bottle of wine tastes putrid. i bought an $8 bottle that was amazing, so i expected a marked improvement. although, expecting anything good for that price is grasping at straws i guess.
$8 wine? I need to start drinking cheaper, maybe I should know about this. Any good $6 wines, perhaps?
ReplyDeletebut i have recordings to transcribe, so i can't have the game in my ear.
ReplyDeleteCo-worker is ok, but she is a talker. I don't come to work to talk and be talked to. I like to be in my own world.
ReplyDeleteIn canada, you're strapped to find anything with alcohol outside of shoppers drug mart for less than $8.
ReplyDelete$8 wine was KWV - some white from south africa or something. Not amazing, but definitely palatable. We also like gazela - $8 or $9 white portguese wine with a bit of carbonation in it. That one's only like 8% or 9% though. But its damn tasty.
I need to start drinking cheaper
ReplyDeleteAnd by cheaper, you mean less.

Did I read that right?
Actually, that wasn't what I meant.

You talk to us for nine innings......:)
Yes, I know that. It's called "A Joke".
ReplyDeleteI get some Two Buck Chuck whenever I get to a Trader Joe's that is allowed to sell alcohol. Doesn't happen much.
ReplyDeleteSame day. Ugly game to go with the ugly weather in beantown. Froze watching a youth soccer game today while my son's team lost 3-2.
ReplyDeletePlease Sox do something nice tonight.
You know, it's perfectly ok to pay $10 or $12 for a bottle of wine that you enjoy.
ReplyDeleteWait, what?? I didn't even notice that when I wrote that.
ReplyDeletein that case, i definitely need to start drinking cheaper.
ReplyDeletei agree, theys hould have called it either after 8 or after 9, none of this in the middle shit.
ReplyDeleteand i'm pissed the mfy game got called a win after only 6 innings.
Any oatmeal for the second game? I'd rather not see flo in the lineup.
ReplyDeleteYou talk to us for nine innings......:)
ReplyDeleteYou don't like the sound of my voice, is that it..... :)
EB just put it up:
ReplyDeleteScutaro SS
Pedroia 2B
Martinez C
Youkilis 1B
Ortiz DH
Lowell 3B
Drew RF
Cameron CF
Hermida LF
No Bot or Bard tonight.

Flo's there no Beltre , Lowell at 3rd
Bot is w/ Mrs Bot and the new Bot Jr
ReplyDeleteDoes that mean Bot is doing a jig to the drop kick murphys up and down the hospital corridor?
ReplyDeletewe are 3 GB the chokers, who won 7-3.
ReplyDeleteOh yeah, I have no problem paying for good wine. Most of the stuff we like is in the $15-20 range. Not a huge fan of the VQA reds, I think the Aussie/Euro ones are a lot bolder.
ReplyDeleteWe've fallen in love with Prospect Winery in BC though - love their reds!
Not a good April so far.
ReplyDeleteKotsays pitching?
ReplyDeleteI wonder if they're wearing the same pants.
ReplyDeletecrawford on - here we go again.
ReplyDeleteMy every day wine costs about $11 bottle. It doesn't seem like "good" wine to me - that is something I can't afford on a daily basis - but I really enjoy it. Pelee Island Pinot Noir. I really like their reds.
ReplyDeleteMets Cards in the 15th -- scoreless. Pujols has been intentionally walked three times in the extra innings to load the bases twice bringing up a relief pitcher to bat for the cards. So far the strategy has worked.
ReplyDeleteWild.
A starting pitcher now batting for the Mets.
ReplyDeleteMets Cards in the 15th -- scoreless
ReplyDeletemy favourite kind of game!
Not even a pretend effort against Crawford
ReplyDeletelol - "everyday wine" - i drink beer usually, so when its wine i tend to spend a little more. but pelee island pinot you say....hmm, i'll have to check it out tomorrow.
ReplyDeleteDamn these mfrays look like trouble this year.
ReplyDeleteI never drink beer at home, only in pubs, where beer is good and wine is usually not.
ReplyDeleteyou're pissing me off, clay.
ReplyDeleteTim, sometime this summer, steak and pinot noir at our place. Maybe in June for both our birthdays.
ReplyDeleteWTF????
ReplyDeleteyay - defense!
ReplyDeletewtf. the curse of 23.
ReplyDeleteI hope Mike Cameron's nickname doesn't turn out to be Butcher Boy.
ReplyDeleteyes! i'll be living in toronto in june (school of accountancy) so its definitely do-able. we can probably get together to watch a game on a weekend or something something.
ReplyDeletealso - dinner here (well not here here - at our new place we're moving to next saturday - same building, just 2 floors up) during ASB!
get together to watch a game on a weekend
ReplyDeleteNo one gets it, do they, L?
This sox team so far has pretty "special" defense. : P
ReplyDeletewtf clay. i felt this way about you last year, then you tore it up in sep/oct, now you are pulling the same shit as you did last year.
ReplyDeleteshould've shipped him to t.o. for doc.
extra innings of a west coast game on the weekend?
ReplyDelete2 arms down in the pen -- not a good night for this, laptop. get your shit together.
ReplyDeletefuck you clay.
ReplyDeleteclay
ReplyDeleteclay clay clay
No one gets it, do they, L?
ReplyDeleteWe were just talking about this this morning.
Tim: weekdays only, and no Fridays.
damn cameron too, having out #3 clank off his glove.
ReplyDeleteI gotta go, leaving work soon and not threading when I get home.
ReplyDeleteI would like to note for any bridge-jumpers out there that the Red Sox WILL win games again. I am sure of it.
OT: The NESN feed tonight reminded me of another experience with terrible announcers in sports this afternoon. CBC's decided to provide their own coverage of the Bruins playoff series.
ReplyDeleteThey've dulled down the sound of the arena/crowd so much so that all you hear basically is an overly loud announcer who can't pronounce players right, like Zdeno "Chair-a" on the Bruins. (comparable in annoyance to David OR-tiz). And his enthusiam is so dull that if you aren't watching, you don't know when a goal is scored because you don't hear the crowd at all.
I want my NESN. The Bruins announcers on there are ridiculously biased, and hilarious to listen to.
/rant.
so - whose gonna pitch an inning tonight? hall? scutaro? i think fy wants to at some point.
ReplyDeleteOn the bright side this all has no effect on laptops era!
ReplyDelete:-/
hey,he just wanted to get a good look at their entire lineup right away -- now he knows what he's dealing with. we're cool.
ReplyDelete44 pitches!
ReplyDeleteIt's the 1st inning they could come back, remember the playoff game 2 years ago?
ReplyDeleteLaptop may have been fucked by the other game being suspended also, not knowing when he would pitch.
ReplyDeleteAt least the more important Boston team already won today.
ReplyDeleteAt least the more important Boston team already won today.
ReplyDeleteAre you in the right place?
Cut me and I will bleed black and gold. I cry why the Bruins are eliminated from the playoffs.
ReplyDeleteIt's the 1st inning they could come back
ReplyDeleteOf course! We should be expecting it.
L, could you become a Naturalized Canadien citizen?
ReplyDeleteJimenez just pitched the Rockies first no hitter!
ReplyDeleteAnd the mets cards go to 17 scoreless.
17!! wow!!
ReplyDeletewe submitted our applications for citizenship soon after we passed the three year mark.
ReplyDeleteOn to the 18th in St.L!
ReplyDeleteBay is 0-for-7 with 4 K so far.
ReplyDeleteI'm feeling a bit slaphappy today
ReplyDeletewiping
ReplyDeleteUmmmm ....
Get one please..
ReplyDeleteI'm leaving before I say anymore stupid/gross things, later.
ReplyDeleteJiminez pulled off the no hitter.
ReplyDeleteLast night's Mets/Cardinals game, St. Louis' 2B Felipe Lopez hit a grand slam off of Raul Valdes...
ReplyDeleteTonight in the 18th inning, Lopez was the PITCHER and Valdes was the hitter!!! He hit a ground ball to deep short, Brendan Ryan threw wide of first, Valdes ran to second base and was gunned down by Pujols, the throw taken by the third baseman.
That's got to be a first -- or maybe a third.
ReplyDelete6 BB in the no-no.
Cardinals pitcher Kyle Loshe played LF in the top of the 18th.
ReplyDeleteThe Lopez-to-Valdes at-bat took 10 pitches, as well.
ReplyDeleteGood evening. Fourth inning at 10:21 in Boston. May as well be a West Coast game.
ReplyDeleteWe have good friends at this game. They must be pretty miserable between the weather and the score(s).
You think that people with tickets to tonight's game got in for the suspended game?
yes, they did. friday tix were no good. so they got a bonus tonight -- a crappy bonus.
ReplyDelete19th now!
ReplyDeleteAs you are know sick of hearing about by now, we saw 21 scoreless in Montreal in 1989. LA 1-0in 22.
That's what I figured. I am sure my friends are freezing and pissed off.
ReplyDeleteMy sister is at tonight's game for her birthday, too. Although I'm curious as to whether she's still at the park or not.
ReplyDeletemets got a run in the top 19
ReplyDeletePapi!!
ReplyDeleteI just looked for the Mets game on MLB tv, but it seems our free preview is over. Oh well.
ReplyDeletetiz - what happened
ReplyDeleteWe suck.
ReplyDeleteHa, it's on Fox. Silly me.
ReplyDeletePujols up with man on....
ReplyDeleteRunner out at second.
ReplyDeleteBad call.
ReplyDeletePujols on second. Mets get a break with that call at second.
ReplyDeleteI think perhaps I am talking to myself....and about the Mets game. That's sad and pathetic.
ReplyDeleteScore tied in St Louis.
ReplyDeleteHAHAHAHA they freaking tied it with 2 outs... This is hilarious.
ReplyDeleteTied. Wow!
ReplyDeleteI couldn't believe ,after they got Ludwig staling, that they pitched to Pujols, but they are the mets....
ReplyDeleteTwo on, none out.
ReplyDeleteLaser Show!!! The Laser Show never ends. Although that was more of a rainbow.
ReplyDeletewas the no-hitter mentioned?
ReplyDeleteMeanwhile, back in Boston, we got a run!
ReplyDelete2 on for the cards! but 2 gone
ReplyDeleteMets win, 2-1.
ReplyDeleteWell, I don't think I have what it takes to stay up for this one. I just hope we don't lose two games in a night.
ReplyDeleteNice catch, JD!
ReplyDeleteGood night, all.
ReplyDeleteA no-hitter and a 20-inning Mets win in one day. Cool baseball day... with some huge exceptions.
ReplyDeleteL, could you become a Naturalized Canadien citizen?
ReplyDeleteJust saw this, don't know if you are still here...
We will become citizens, yes. Our application is already in, we are in the queue. It's not called naturalized, it's just citizenship.
Whoa. A moon shot from E-Long.
ReplyDeleteIf there was anyone left in Fenway, they're leaving now.
FUCK YEAH!
ReplyDeleteSmall game james threw 121 pitches. Yeesh.
ReplyDelete6-3 is interesting -- and victor is on.
ReplyDeleteYOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOK
ReplyDeleteThis is going to be the comeback of the season - the whole season!
OMG - DONG@!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteI wonder if Ish's sister is still there. I'm guessing no, but I'm hoping yes.

ReplyDeletehey scutaro: hit, pls.
ReplyDeleteoh man, they have to win this one. have to!
ReplyDeletepedroia, martinez, yook is what we want in the 9th, so that's good,.
ReplyDeleteIf Wheeler has to stay out there there is a good chance he serves up a meatball.
ReplyDeleteFY walk off?
ReplyDeleterally time.
ReplyDeletefuck no.
ReplyDeleteNo dong sale at V-Mart.
ReplyDeleteDon trooped me.
ReplyDelete*sigh*
Sparkling clean water
:(
ReplyDeleteTeam meeting time, we are getting close to getting realistically eliminated from the playoffs here.
ReplyDeletewe might be out for 2011, too, if we lose tomorrow.
ReplyDeletemagic # for red sox elimination: 148 - with 151 games to go.
ReplyDeleteMy sister left after the FIFTH inning.
ReplyDeletewell at least we have the bruins. this team is too far gone. may as well concede the east to the jays tonight.
ReplyDeletewell at least we have the bruins. this team is too far gone. may as well concede the east to the jays tonight.
ReplyDeletethe funny thing is, the nyy troll (who is obviously reading the thread) probably thinks you are serious.
