G38: Tigers 5, Red Sox 1

Red Sox - 001 000 000 - 1 7 0
Tigers - 021 200 00x - 5 9 0
Lackey (7-9-5-4-4, 123) had trouble getting the third out in both the second and fourth innings.

In the second, he had a man on first and two outs, but allowed a single, walk, and single to Detroit's 7-8-9 hitters, which gave Detroit a 1-0 lead, then walked Johnny Damon to force in a second run.

Lackey got the first two outs in the fourth on only two pitches, but then Damon singled and stole second and Ramon Santiago hit his first home run of the year. Damon finished the afternoon with two singles and two walks off Lackey.

Boston scored on doubles from Jonathan Van Every and Jeremy Hermida. The Red Sox had two on with two outs in the sixth, but Mike Lowell fouled out to the catcher. With two outs in the seventh, they loaded the bases, but J.D. Drew struck out.

Tampa Bay rallied yet again and beat the Mariners 2-1, so the Red Sox are 7.5 GB. In New York, with the Yankees up 3-1, Mariano Rivera came in with the bases loaded and two outs in the eighth inning. Fruitbat walked in a run, then gave up a grand slam to Jason Kubel and the Twins won 6-3.

Scutaro, SS
Hermida, LF
Drew, RF
Youkilis, 1B

What is this, Worst Lineup Possible Day?

meunier said...

That is why I sent Hall to the Paw Sox in MLB 2k10, he dosn't have any range anymore.

meunier said...

Everyone else is tired day.

Lackey sucks too

Castig & Joe discussing whether Noodle Arm will get a different reception at Fenway, now that he is not a NYY. They would like him to, great effort he always put in, what he meant to 2004, etc...

This leads to what kind of reception Manny will get at Fenway. Castig says there's no question, your ears will be ringing, "because of the effort, or lack thereof... in his final days". That last clause kind of muttered.

I am going to start crying right now.

L-girl said...

That's probably the thing to do.

We are going to have a kick ass team in 2013.

So hang in there.

redsock said...

Yanks and Jays winning, Rays scoreless (but they will get like 8 or so, just you wait).

L-girl said...

We're here. Here for 2010, 2011, 2012. But it looks like October is free for now.

redsock said...

Are you saying we should give up?

:>)

L-girl said...

We should keep watching and see what happens. Because they're our team, win or lose.

SoSock said...

Damn. End of the school year picnic at temple was nice. This is not. Kinda makes me wanna just go mow the yard, which HAS to be done today (almost 3 weeks now). But....I watch. I'm a fan......dammit.

SoSock said...

Yanks up 3 -1. On TBS

L-girl said...

Castig said Tiger Stadium has been demolished. I missed that.

SoSock said...

Tek throws out Noodle!

L-girl said...

Tek overcomes his own noodle to throw out Noodle? :)

SoSock said...

Better :)

A joint effort

....

I could use a joint effort right now.

L-girl said...

Castig just gave us a good future trivia q. Name the 2 MLB players with two-letter last names.

L-girl said...

squander

I could use a joint effort right now.

I could walk down to the medical marijuana dispensary if you need some {ahem} medical attention.

I know I do - this has been a frustrating 2 games.

L-girl said...

Well, I'm at work. My employers prefer I keep my, ahem, medical issues to myself.

[Sadly, the truth is I don't do that anymore. Not by choice - my body won't let me. :( ]

I have to miss the final innings. Maybe I'll miss some excitement the way I did yesterday. Excitement of the opposite variety.

redsock said...

I also mentioned the demolition on Friday night!

Show some signs of life here.

my body won't let me. :(

Yeah, I just go to sleep now. And I feel it for like hours. So I don't bother. I guess hat's what happens when you go a couple of decades without partaking

Dr. Jeff said...

Grim. But that was a nice DP. Ortiz and Lowell make it look easy to kill a rally.

Dr. Jeff said...

What's the LOB for the sox today?

SoSock said...

Damn.7 straight pitches to the outside then a slider to get him.
Fruitbat just issued a bases loaded walk to get the Twins within 1 run! His first since 05. The Toilet just went dead silent

SoSock said...

Wow - DP. At least there's schadenfreude.
Fruitbat just followed his bases loaded walk by giving up a 2-out grand slam to give the Twins a 3-run lead

SoSock said...

Just took a good look at our line up for the ffirst time. I think Zenslinger is on to something. With our current roster, could we have actually put a worse batting order together?
It would have taken some effort

Dr. Jeff said...

Lifeless.

6-3 Twins over Yanks. End of 8th.
Not so good here :(
Clean water, boo.
Cranking up the mower, boo.

Time to listen to the Giant's game - Zito is pitching - hopefully some exciting baseball.

I wish I went to sleep, I'd use it as a sleep aid. I get a lot of bad effects. Someone told me that's what happens from partaking so much as a young person. I don't know if that's true, but instead I just pollute my liver.

Rays rallied and won.
SEA - 000 010 000 - 1 6 2
FKR - 000 000 11x - 2 5 0

Fruitbat came into the game with 2 outs in the 8th and bases loaded. He walked in a run, then gave up a GS to Kubel!
MIN - 010 000 050 - 6 9 0
MFY - 020 010 000 - 3 11 0

So ....

FKR ---
MFY 2.0
TOR 4.0
BOS 7.5
BAL 14.5

We were in NYC for a baby naming, so I missed the game entirely. Guess I am not sorry that I did. Got to go check the box score, but it looks like the Tigers scored early and often.

Well, perhaps with reduced hopes for the post season, we can find more off topic things to discuss in game threads and find ways of distracting ourselves from the misery.
