Tigers - 000 102 000 - 3 6 0
David Ortiz hit a pinch-hit solo home run off Tigers closer Jose Valverde in the top of the ninth, as Boston upped its record to 13-2 over its last 15 games.

Ortiz has now faced Valverde twice, and is 2-for-2 with two homers and five RBIs. It was Ortiz's fourth career pinch-hit homer, and his first since April 27, 2003 (which was also his first home run for the Red Sox).

Mike Cameron and Dustin Pedroia hit solo homers earlier in the game in support of Buchholz (6-6-3-1-3, 98).
Example
Clay Buchholz / Andrew Oliver

Hey guys, quick question:

On one of NESN's commercials I see a clip of Ortiz hugging a serviceman in the stands... when was that/is there a video of that anywhere? I think it's awesome.

So David Ortiz is 2 for 2 with 5 RBI's against Valverde. Because yesterday he hit a solo home-run, does this mean his previous home-run was a grand slam? Or did he hit a sacrifice fly in addition to the first home-run?

Yay! Thank you. It looks like it indeed was a grand slam. Hmm, I would sort of expect MLB to point that out for us. Oh well.
