G16: Red Sox 11, Twins 2

Red Sox - 302 230 010 - 11 18 0
Twins - 100 010 000 - 2 6 0
It was a near perfect night in Minneapolis, as the Red Sox won their second straight game against the Twins.

Mile Aviles went 4-for-5, with two doubles and a home run, and three runs scored. David Ortiz singled and homered (a moon shot) and drove in three runs; Flo is batting .444. Adrian Gonzalez had three hits and two RBI, and scored twice. Ryan Sweeney, Marlon Byrd, and Kevin Youkilis each had two hits.

Beckett (6-5-2-3-5, 100) settled down after a shaky 37-pitch first inning in which he walked three consecutive batters, the last one forcing in a run. Beckett escaped a 2nd/3rd, one-out jam in the third - when the score was only 5-1 - (thanks to a diving catch by Byrd), and finished his night by striking out the side in the sixth. Scott Atchison pitched two perfect innings of relief, and Matt Albers finished up.

Ok, here's the mailbag:

Why is hardly any blame for the team's poor start is being directed toward the upper management and ownership? Ownership and upper management do the hiring, firing and most importantly, the signing of players and hiring staff members. So I don't want to hear that it's all Bobby Valentine's fault or just the player's fault. Thoughts?

Entitled to your opinion and yes, they control the purse strings. I'm sure they wish they had a better roster and I'm sure they wish that $67 million of it wasn't on the disabled list. Bobby Valentine was the right hire. This is his 16th season as a manager in the major leagues. You don't last that long being a bad manager. It's incredible to me how unfair people like yourself are toward him. It's 15 games in and you've made up your mind. Amazing.

Cafardos mailbag, this guy was defending Bobby and look how Nick the Dick ended it...

This is stupid, illogical, and wrong. That's like saying GWB was a good president because he was re-elected. Lots of people who are very poor at their jobs continue in those jobs for life. If you don't believe me, ask G***y L*****. Or Don Zimmer. Or Clarence Thomas.

Dusty Baker was the first person that came to my mind, Laura.
