G2: Tigers 10, Red Sox 0

Red Sox - 000 000 000 - 0 7 2
Tigers - 200 321 20x - 10 12 0
Example
Josh Beckett / Doug Fister

Beckett had his right thumb examined by two different specialists last week and he has been cleared to pitch. Bobby Valentine said, "It's not much of an injury."

Beckett offered a bit more information:
Everything's fine. I really have no idea how this got blown out like this. I was dumbfounded. ... I think a lot of it had to do with Andrew Bailey also having injured his thumb. But he injured his thumb on one thing. Mine was something that's happened over time. ... It's something I've been dealing with for 18 months. ... We had to make sure there wasn't some more stuff going on. ... I think everything's good.
Beckett had a cortisone shot during spring training and he admitted that he'll likely need surgery on the thumb at some point. ... But "everything's good". ... He thinks.
Example
Other AL East news: The Blue Jays won their opener 7-4 in 16 innings on Thursday, the longest Opening Day game in history. (15 innings: Senators 1, Athletics 0, April 13, 1926; Tigers 4, Cleveland 2, April 19, 1960.) ... On Friday, the Rays rallied against Mariano Rivera, getting three hits, two walks, and two runs in the bottom of the ninth, and beat the Yankees 7-6.

One guy with a no-hitter, one with a perfect game in the 5th in the Cle-Tor game. And as I type that, a 2-run HR after an error.

So it's 2-1-0 to 0-0-0.
