The Mother of all Schadenfreudes. Fun! Now to listen to KO.

Keith... incredibly awesomely awesome.

Olbermann slipped "gift baskets" and "Yeah, Jeets" past the censors, like a pair of grounders six feet to Jeter's left.

Well done, Allan. A Jeter sendoff every Red Sox fan should be proud of!

Ahhh, nothing like a good, cleansing dump after a week of being force-fed a diet of glossy packaged, processed-sugar loaded Jeterian candy floss. Is it safe to un-mute now?

Epic post. Might have seemed like too much but against the din of Jeter love on the radio and TV, it couldn't possibly be.

Thank you!

Thanks, all. And thanks for still coming here despite me not seeing and writing about an actual game - expect the one I went to at the Noo Toilet (and even then I did not blog about it) - since maybe mid-July. God knows what all that means for the blog in 2015.

I should point out that the first picture - "LOSER" - is an actual advertisement he did a long time ago, not any kind of thing created by a non-MFY fan. Gatorade?

Kind of too bad we won't have Jeets to kick around next year, but, on the other hand, A-Rod will likely be NY Post fodder....

"despite me not seeing and writing about an actual game"

I know you've said that your attitude toward the Sox changed after 2004--less driven, did you say?

But I don't care how much more relaxed you are, a lot of this season's games were seriously painful to think about, much less rehash.

It changed for sure after 2004 - but in a totally good way - a way that still surprises me sometimes 10 years later.

But even after 2004, I followed the team super-closely and watched every night - for years afterwards. 2007 was an amazing year, in large part because of the active game threads.

But after not watching a number of games in 2013 because of DLUWT and then not wanting to spend 3 hours every night being annoyed at this year's team, I definitely feel less attached to the team. I am not as obsessive.

Thanks Allan, well played! Have a nice winter....

sawx will bounce back next year, interesting offseason ahead.

I also watched fewer games this year, which is why I appreciated your game summaries when they were posted and missed the ones that were not. That said, I trust the owners and GM to work towards a better season next year (though the AJP and Drew signings made me question their skills...).

"I definitely feel less attached to the team."

Well, none of us will have to see this particular ugly team ever again. Pitchers and catchers report in...not long now!

It is tough to stay focused over the course of a 162 game season, especially if (a) it's not your full time job and (b) you have a million other distractions. Lump in the fact that this year's team was terrible and, well...

The fact alone that you write a post for all 162 is amazing in itself.

Remember: worst to first to worst to FIRST!

Lester is looking good tonight. I'm sure he's happy to be in the playoffs this year. I wonder whether the Red Sox will be able to re-sign him for 2015.
