G112: Red Sox 7, Tigers 2

Red Sox - 020 000 140 - 7 9 0
Tigers - 001 000 100 - 2 4 1
Jackie Bradley - who began the day with a .121 batting average - homered and tripled, scored twice, and drove in five runs. (Bradley had driven in only four runs this year before today.) And he made an amazing catch in center field.

Bradley walked with the bases loaded in the second, hit a solo home run (#2) in the seventh, and cleared the bases with a triple in the eighth.

David Ortiz and Brock Holt had two hits apiece. ... Holt drove in Boston's other two runs. ... Henry Owens, in his second big league start: 5-3-1-4-2, 84.

Also, the Blue Jays shut out the Yankees for the second straight day, winning 2-0 and sweeping the three-game series. Toronto is now only 1.5 GB the Yankees. (New York has not scored a run in its last 26 innings.)

The MFY fan who caught Bautista's homer decided to throw the ball back onto the field and hit Gardner in the head.
