Joe Kelly will pick up where he left off last year.

Elias:

Trevor Story homered in his first at-bat on Wednesday, his fourth longball in three major-league games, helping the Rockies defeat the Diamondbacks, 4-3. Story became the first player in modern baseball history - that is, since 1900 - to hit at least four home runs in his first three major-league games. He's also the first player since 1900 whose first four hits in the majors were home runs.

The Dodgers blanked the Padres 7-0 on Wednesday for their third consecutive shutout to open the season. Los Angeles is the second team in major-league history to shut out its opponent in each of its first three games of a season, joining the 1963 Cardinals, who shut out the Mets twice and the Philles once to begin their campaign.

Ouch!
The Padres opened the season by being swept at home by the Dodgers by a combined score of 25-0 (lost 15-0, 3-0, 7-0).

If tonight is postponed, Aug. 15 is the likely makeup date.

Which would mean a four-city road trip and a stretch of 23 straight days without one off. Not ideal.

The big downside to May 2 is that it's Boston's only off-day between April 15 and May 18.
