Travis Shaw made the most of his start at third base in place of Yoan Moncada by hitting a two-run home run in the second and a run-scoring single in the third.

David Price (7-6-2-0-8, 98) went seven solid innings as the Red Sox took sole possession of first place.

Dustin Pedroia hit a two-run double in the fourth. Hanley Ramirez homered in the eighth and Brock Holt hit a pinch-hit homer in the ninth.

Looks like Moncada will get tonight off, as he has struck out in seven straight PA.
"[Ortiz] just told me that first of all, that happened to him when he first broke into the league, he struck out four times in one game. And that the game's not easy, it's a process and to just stay focused on getting better and playing my game."

Actually, Flo has fanned 4 times in a game 10 times, including last year (September 1, 2015).
