G141: Blue Jays 3, Red Sox 2

Red Sox - 000 001 100 - 2 4 1
Blue Jays - 021 000 00x - 3 6 1
Melvin Upton - who had a horrific game in left field for the Blue Jays last night - made some amends with his bat on Saturday afternoon, hitting a two-run homer in the second inning. Jose Bautista's single in the third made it 3-0 and Toronto held on to edge the Red Sox and cut Boston's AL East lead back down to one game.

Trailing 3-0, the Red Sox got a run in the sixth on Dustin Pedroia's 13th home run of the season. After Hanley Ramirez and Aaron Hill opened the seventh with singles, Jackie Bradley's sacrifice fly brought in another run.

In the eighth, David Ortiz reached safely on an infield error with two outs. Yoan Moncada pinch-ran. Mookie Betts popped to second.

Robert Osuna walked Ramirez on a full count to start the top of the ninth. Brock Holt (pinch-hitting for Hill) forced Ramirez at second. With the tying run at first and one out, Chris Young swung at the first pitch, fouling out to the catcher. Bradley struck out on three pitches to end the game.

Eduardo Rodriguez: 6-4-3-2-5, 100.
