G95: White Sox 4, Red Sox 2

Panic? No. Nothing even close to panic.

Annoyance? Yes. I'm plenty annoyed.

***

Javier Vazquez (3.77, 120 ERA+) / Daisuke Matsuzaka (3.94, 114 ERA+)

RedSox.com:
Vazquez is having his best year since he left the Expos for the Yankees in 2003. Opponents are only hitting .231 against him in 121.2 innings, and his 114 strikeouts rank seventh in the American League. ...

Against the White Sox, Matsuzaka must defuse speculation that his workload has affected his recent performance. Over his past two starts, he has allowed 10 earned runs in 11 innings, including 19 hits and five home runs.

  1. Yankees are pulling out Wang in the 7th, things are getting messy.

  2. Maybe not. My yahoo gameday thing was stuck with Howie Clark at the plate and Wang on the mound.

Damn Wang, always gettin things sticky.

  3. I think the gameday may be messed up. It's still showing it's the 7th, but I've got it on mlbtv and it's going to the bottom of the 9th, 3-2 Jays.

  4. I know the ad comment will be trashed soon, but it's so pathetic to me how advertisers do that whole "Hey, it's me!" thing, as if any of us are dumb enough to see that and think, "Oh, that must be a friend of mine, I'll click on the link. Oh, it wasn't who I thought it was, but look at this great site! I'll buy all their products." Seriously. Capitalists are shameless.

  5. Jeremy Balkardo in for the Jays--gives up a Jeter-style single to A-Rod to start the ninth.

    ReplyDelete
  6. Jeter is on the top step. YES just felt the audience should know this. You can't teach that kind of calm-eyed, top-step-standin'.

  7. omg kicksgrl we go way back! *roll eyes*

  8. 2 outs, A-Rod at second. Where are you, Tim Armstrong?

Glaus threw to first instead of second. Why not get the lead runner? Looked like a DP ball. I guess he was getting the sure out. But that's the tying run

    ReplyDelete
  9. Two balks will tie it up, Jeremy!

    ReplyDelete
  10. One more strike and I'll take back what I said about wanting to see you executed, Jeremy...

  11. Start spreadin' the news, Yankees lose!

    ReplyDelete
  12. heh, tim armstrong. If that was directed towards me, I can only stop and say in a heavy thick Tim Armstrong british/dyslexic accent

"I gotta boston base-a-ball, with some diamonds and guns, diamonds and guns, gangstas and thugs/david ortiz, david ortiz, david ortiz and the suicide squeeze" (much better in person with the classic accent)

Way to salvage one Jays, lets get that lead back up to 8 tonight Sox.

  13. Yes, directed at you. In fact, you'd be one of the few to be interested in the pics I took of The Pist that are up on my blog. Check 'em out, Sunflower Seedz Armstrong.

  14. Yankees lose, and still panic in red sox nation.

Just thought I would fill you in on the latest WEEI thoughts on the Red Sox.

Tony M. of the Herald and Butch Stearns of Fox are on the big show with Glenn Ordway. Their fix for this teams offensive woes - trade minor leaguers for Dye, sit Drew and make him the 4th outfielder for the rest of the team.

Oh, yea, they want to trade Moss and Murphy, maybe Lester or Gabbard.

    ReplyDelete
  15. Dye-.230-.284-.446 with 16HR and 4 rbi more than Lugo. Plus, I think he was hurt for awhile. But once out of that pressure-cooker in Chi and into a more relaxed Fenway atmosphere, I'm sure he'd turn it around. Plus everybody needs to carry a 4th OFer making 14 mil. Maz still gets paid for this, right?

    ReplyDelete
  16. The 14 million was brought up, to qoute them: "we don't give a bleep, about the 14 million".

I hate to tell you this, but expect rain delays maybe even a rain out, because Mrs. s1c (otherwise known as the bh) are going out since butterfly is in New Hampshire for a week. woo woo!!!

  17. I was gonna put on EEI before, but I forgot. Glad I forgot now. Pretty steady rain now, but light. I'd play in this, but I'd play in a hurricane. They do have three rain-free days in a row to do a doubleheader if necessary.

  18. well off to the Texas Roadhouse for some grub. When I get back I expect to see (assuming no rain out), this team winning 10 - 4, and seeing oohs ands aahs on this page about a wily mo home run over centerfield bleachers.

  19. 1. Coco Crisp, CF
    2. Dustin Pedroia, 2B
    3. David Ortiz, DH
    4. Manny Ramirez, LF
    5. Kevin Youkilis, 1B
    6. Mike Lowell, 3B
    7. Jason Varitek, C
    8. Wily Mo Pena, RF
    9. Julio Lugo, SS

  20. I would need two HRs from WMP to even murmur and ooh or aah. And even then, it'd be "Ooh, now we can get a decent reliever for him."

I wanted to believe in him, but conventional wisdom has a strong case. He needs to play every day and can't go to the minors, so trade him to some small market team and let him play every day. If he turns into an Ortiz, so be it.

  21. Sweet pics, Jere. I can't say I've ever heard of them though, what kind of music is it?

    ReplyDelete
  22. Just looked @ doppler, doesn't look like theres much rain there. I think this one will get squeezed in. I'm in for a late one tonight. This just has the feel to a slugfest, IMO.

    ReplyDelete
  23. Game starting at 8:55ish.

"Sweet pics, Jere. I can't say I've ever heard of them though, what kind of music is it?"

Thanks. As you can tell by the pics, it ain't classical. I guess those guys were before your time. They're actually on itunes which is weird. Check 'em out.

  24. Ah, nothing like rain to allow someone to go out to eat and not miss any of the game. Looks like the game will start soon though!!

I am the very model of a modern Major-General

  25. Nevermind, just looked at an accurate Doppler. From an internet perspective, this one'll be postponed to tomorrow or somethin.

    ReplyDelete
  26. I gotta try that more often...

    ReplyDelete
  27. That 1-2-3 inning was much needed.

    Yoooooouk, where are yooooooou?

    ReplyDelete
  28. Gameday said "In play, no out" on Pedroia's inning-ending single. I want my money back.

    ReplyDelete
  29. Speed helps the Sox twice in a row. So unfamiliar to see, eh.

That baserunning...I dunno. Exciting, at least, but I'm not sure what Pedroia was doing going to second. Especially with Ortiz coming up.

    ReplyDelete
  30. Remy said DP ran for second to give the run time to score. Coco might have scored too if he'd gone earlier.

  31. I couldn't help laughing. On NESN you can hear this heckler who's all over Pierzynski. He yelled "Hey A.J.!" in this hoarse "retard" voice every time a pitch was coming in.

Dumb but with repetition became funnier.

lmao, i didn't even hear it but your description makes it awesome.

  33. wellll..that was irritating. i feel like we can't win when we're behind now. like the minute dice gave up the lead it was like 'we're gonna lose'.
if only that ball manny hit got outta there ;//

  34. FAR#@AEFFRR@#!@#!@#!@@!!

I was at the game tonight. Ridiculously frustrating. This is one of the worst Ls of the year. It's not the ump's fault, but it really made it worse that the 2-run single came right after DiceK should have had strike 3.

    ReplyDelete
  35. the 2-run single came right after DiceK should have had strike 3.

You are so right. He couldn't have made a better pitch -- it was a beauty on the inside corner, with plenty of plate -- but the fuckin' ump was asleep.

Still, it mighta helped to score a run or three.

  36. From the Globe:A terrific fit for the Sox would be Arizona outfielder Eric Byrnes, who is having an All-Star-caliber

I think he would be perfect for this team right now.......

When you have guys like Ortiz and Varitek lobbying for the Red Sox to sign Lowell now and not wait....They cleary are not focused on what is going on here.........

    Shake it up Theo.........

And 6 walks through 5 innings is a joke.........

As well is 2 runs through 9....
