Millwood has a shitty 3-15 record, but as we can see, he is not that much worse than Lackey, who is 12-11.Kalish, CF

Lackey's home/road splits offer a clearer example of why W-L should be avoided when looking at any pitcher's stats. (I wonder when, if ever, awarding W and L to pitchers will be scrapped.)

1925 - Brooklyn's Burleigh Grimes accounts for seven outs in only three plate appearances, hitting into two double plays and one triple play.
1936 - The Tigers sweep the Browns 12-0 and 14-0, the biggest double shutout in MLB history.
1968 - Minnesota's Cesar Tovar plays one inning at each position. At that time, Bert Campaneris (Oakland's shortstop in this game) was the only other player to have done it (September 8, 1965).

An excellent name, right out of a children's book or a detective novel.
Drunk on all-inclusive booze and in Panama, next to a boozed-out steph.
Fuck this shit, red sox - win 'em all from here on out!
Time to go listen to the second half of "Let it Bleed" whilst enjoying a "cerveza" on the patio! On such a stones kick since that movie.
I'd be all for awarding a win to a pitcher if he pitches nine innings, allows zero runs, and hits a home run. Short of that, its a team stat.
Fielding Independent Pitching (ERA-type # which removes any advantage or disadvantage a pitcher might have because of who is playing behind him):
Lackey: 3.84
Millwood: 4.91
Great nap there.
Still seeking the next Mariano Rivera for Boston, down here in Panama. Its a business trip...
NESN interview with Lackey has him saying his changeup has been (yup!) the best of his career!
well, good. nesn tonight, then i can choose nesn over yes at work for the next two weekends.

Yep, Don shocked at Millwood's W-L record!
Hello to whoever is here. We just got back from NY where we went to a funeral for my son in law's grandmother. She was 101 and lived a long and happy life. Still sad, nevertheless.
Anyway, I have missed so much baseball these past few weeks. I can't believe the season is just about over.
Too much to do to thread tonight, but wanted to check in and say hello.
NESN Daily's 12,967th commercial for itself (can't settle on one, I guess):
"We even read the blogs!"
Sounds like fun, Tim.
I believe Lackey isn't downright awful, just medium-bad with a dollop of unlucky. I believe he can still make good on his contract.
BEDAZZLED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
PAPI!!!
P.S. I hate Lackey:)
Downright Fatherly.
A drug dealer called me Papi on the sidewalk as I did my morning commute through the Tenderloin of San Francisco.
Not Big Papi, mind you. Just Papi.

Well, looky here! Lacky's winning a game. Of course it IS the Orioles. I mean anybody could beat the Orioles, right? I mean, it's not like anybody would even think about losing 2 in a row to them, ya know?
Oh.....wait a minute......
oh it is very early in this game, not quite yet lackey-implosion time.
Well, the Red dick dong will help a little
Damn, gotta go out for a minute.

LOL, SoSock! OK, back to the task at hand.

Not bad. Of course, it IS the O's. And.....oh nevermind
So who gets the call?
Bot it is

ESPN has switched to this game. Yay!
So I got up from my desk to go watch THAT?

This water should already be dirty
The water is Muddy!!!
"Papelbon ends up striking out the side"
Not in my book.
I think of striking out the side as an all-K OTT

How quickly they forget. Once upon a time, this was an ongoing JoS joke. After a pitcher allowed 5 runs but got all the outs on Ks, we'd say "so-and-so strikes out the side". :)
