Jarrod Saltalamacchia will not play for the remainder of the season because of ligament damage in his left thumb. Dr. Thomas Graham, who performed thumb surgery on Kevin Youkilis earlier this year, will examine Salty in Cleveland next week.Saltalamacchia says surgery is a possibility: "Nobody wants to make a decision right now until we figure everything out. There is definitely some damage in there, but nothing threatening. It's just one of those things where we just got to see how far it is."
