Red Sox - 000 000 100 - 1 5 0 Rangers - 011 010 11x - 5 9 1The Rangers hit four more home runs today, giving them 11 dongs in their three-game sweep. Both Ian Kinlser and Nelson Cruz hit home runs in each of the three games.
Buchholz (6.1-5-4-2-3, 86) pitched better than his two predecessors, but his mates could not do anything with Harrison (7-5-1-2-8, 108) or the Texas bullpen (six up, six down).
Carl Crawford got his first hit as a Sock in the second inning, and he drove in Boston's only run with a seventh-inning single.Clay Buchholz / Matt Harrison
Carl Crawford (0-for-7 with four strikeouts in the first two games) is bumped down to seventh in today's lineup and Adrian Gonzalez is up in the #3 spot. Jed Lowrie and Darnell McDonald are also in the starting lineup.
The Red Sox have not started a season 0-3 since 1996, when they lost their first five games (and were 2-12 and 3-15 in late April).
The Sox were 0-for-11 with RATS last night (4-for-23 in the two games). Since the start of the 2009 season, Boston has won only six of 21 games against the Rangers.

"The Revolution Starts Now" by Steve Earle
Really the pitching is the only problem. The hitting has been great. Our pitchers start slow. That I think is by design. These games can hurt us in a tie breaker down the road but come on we will slaughter most teams going forward and also I must point out, Texas was in the WS last year. This isn't the Royals on a hot streak. I can't wait to see how we destroy the Tigers too.
Cafardo: "There’s the school of thought that it’s too early to make Negative Nelly comments after two dreadful losses ..."
Accent on "thought", since thinking people will understand that there is 98.8% of the season left to play.
Nick: "The Sox certainly have a roster capable of rattling off 10 straight wins at the drop of a hat. ... Or at least we think they can. In these distressful times, it’s always interesting to catch the mood of Red Sox fans on Twitter."
No, it's not. Though perhaps it's more interesting than skimming through Cafardo's crap -- and seeing him copy and paste bullshit from Twitter to pad out his column.
Bozo:
"The sky is falling on the Red Sox at this hour. But try to remember it's only two games. The season is not yet over ... All you nattering nabos of negativity need to calm down and remember the good stuff."
!?!?!
CHB saying those things is like this guy stressing the benefit of daily exercise.
could we make sure kinsler doesn't hit a dong in the first inning today? please?
Well, it wasn't a home run...
now we see if a walk is as good as a home run ...
don't get obsessed, clay.
Yup, exactly the same as a home run.
i hope lester was paying attention.
"laced" foul ....
come on, don!
Nice job, Clay.
there's a "takes with him"
(thinking about for 2+ games, getting bingo is going to be pretty rare)
DET - 203
MFY - 022
M Cabrera with 2 dongs and 4 RBI off Hughes.
There seemed to be an awful lot of cheering for that double play. Maybe just some Sox fans near a microphone.
remy: youkilis down by way of the K
don: you're doing my stuff now?!?!?
Wait - Remy just said "Down by way of the K"! What are the Bingo rules for that?
Oh I missed the "takes with him" - and I was even thinking I wonder if he's going to say it.
i think don has to say it.
Good afternoon. A beautiful day here in western MA, but had to catch a little baseball and hope for a W today!
Yes! CC gets a hit!
I'm on the TBS feed. Bleh.
STRAND A PAIR
i was away from my desk for that one. this is going to work for me only when i am at home with nesn.
Hey All. Let's go Sox.
wind aided
Well at least he didn't walk him...
Murphy really deserves that one even though the wind pushed it. He went down and got a good pitch and struck it solid. It was beautiful from a baseball fan standpoint.
Oh, and also WCWGPL Murphy.
DOWN BY WAY OF THE K from Don this time.
Man am i sick of seeing texas dongs.
Buchle down, clay.
Colon relieves Hughes to start the fifth for the Yanks. Gives up a 2R HR, 7-4 Tigers.
Christ. Kinsler freaking Dong-a-thon.
Creepy triumphal music on the PA...ugh.
That's enough with the homers. I only want to see Sox dongs.
Can we stop throwing meatballs to the Rangers in Arlington. It's bad fucking news.
jeeeeeeeesus H. enough with this bullshit.
Can we please not get swept in the first series of the season? Is that TOO much to ask?
ok the hitters will pick it up pitchers.
Creepy triumphal music on the PA...ugh.
That is getting really annoying. Bad enough when teams do fireworks after a HR, but this is really annoying - especially in G1 when they were still down 2-1 after the homer. Kinda insulting the intelligence of the fans too, like nothing else that happens has any meaning in the game, just home runs.
I would like to hear Don say "the Red Sox have something going," and not just for the bingo.
Let's go Papi, keep pace with Kinsler.
What was Heidi doing?? I hope they're not going to do stuff like this all season.
Apparently that song they play every time the Rangers dong is the movie score from "The Natural"
Lame!
Ok time for this team to start doing something or WEEI will be unbearable tomorrow - fragging HR's by texas are starting to drive me nuts.
If this were 2010, Carl would've broken a few ribs on that one.
Thats better now runs please!!!
frack
I hate baseball so far this season.
At least they're all solo HRs. Seriously.
Yeah, 2011 baseball so far is pretty lame.
Now would be a very good time to get started. GRRRRR
I'm feeling this.
FLO! do we have something going?
mojo risin'...
3-run dong plz
i'm going to accept that!
at least it wasn't 2.
alright Carl, tie this fucker up.
Crawford is gonna hit a triple!
or that!
Yes Carl!
keep the line moving guys!!!
Maybe a Salty Dong?
Keep the line moving.
a bit hack happy -- 7 pitches to last 4 batters
YOUKNOWWHATBALLA!!!
C'mon Darnell, get a hitman like your sunglasses!
I'll take it!
nice eye
good eye, ump!
Elevates, LOL
it doesnt need to go 700 feet ...
Come on, LBJ!
FLBJ.
Uch. Strands more than a pair.
18 minute wait
Fuck this place.
At least they are just solos
i haven't seen this many dongs since ...
This is ridiculous....and really, really, really annoying.
A...details please!
Is that 11 home runs given up by Sox pitchers?
well at this rate the Sox will give up 7 gazillion home runs this year - ok slight exaggeration
Jays lost.
wow - when was the last time that the Sox picked off two runners?
Reyes puts the port in portsider.
L reports a triple play in the CWS-CLE game.
GDGD says Pedroia singled this inning. And stayed put while AG went 5-3. Oy.
If there isn't some 9th inning magic here, tomorrow's globe is going to be GREAT between CHB and Cafardo if today was any indication.
kinsler is allowed only 1 dong per game, right?
oops!
Thanks pap. Jesus fuck.
deja vu?
Closers cannot pitch in non save situations, when will managers ever learn that?
GIDdy uP please.
How appropriate - a KKK sighting in Texas.
everything after the IBB to Hamilton was pretty impressive. Hopefully the rest of his year is like that and not the first part of the inning.
Wow, just following on gamechannel but dang, striking out the side after all that. Good recovery.
let's put an end to this binany linescore.
Does this mean they are going to play like they did in 1996??
Does this mean they are going to play like they did in 1996??
Yes.
DET - 203 022 001 - 10 14 1
MFY - 022 020 100 - 7 12 0
Orioles win, they are 3-0!
Let's hope the next series is better.
I hope they can come back and sweep the Spiders.
You'd think Yankee fans would be smart enough to not get giddy when the Red Sox lose the first 3 games of anything...
well that sucked - bleh - clean water
I guess I'll settle for 159-3.
And to cap it off, Orsillo calls the last out in an homage to John Sterling: "ball game over, series over".
I didn't have the heart to anything but lurk this game...
Feliz had zero problems shutting the Red Sox down in two no-save situations. (They did say they want him to start next year, so mybe he's not a real closer.)
I didn't even have the heart to put in all the verbs I needed in the last comment....
it maybe only 3 games......But that was a shit show...
