By losing to the Blue Jays, the Red Sox did their part in demoting the Yankees to third place in the AL East. Toronto is now alone in second, behind the front-running Rays.
Kevin Plawecki hit his first home run of the year, a three-run job in the first. Bobby Dalbec, Jose Peraza, and Xander Bogaerts also donged.
Bogaerts homered with one out in the eighth, bringing the Red Sox to within two runs. But the next two batters were retired and Boston went in order in the ninth.
Robbie Ray / Andrew TriggsMuñoz, RFTriggs was claimed off waivers from the Giants on August 19. He has pitched in one game for the Red Sox, allowing three runs in three innings, picking up a blown save and a loss to Atlanta on September 2.
