Clement Pleased With Outing, Varitek. Matt Clement threw 35 pitches (or 36 (I also counted 36)), 21 for strikes, allowing one run, two hits, a walk, and a wild pitch in two innings. Afterwards, he had high praise for Jason Varitek, who encouraged him to use his two-seam sinker and four-seam cutter more than usual.

Byung-Hyun Kim threw a 1-2-3 third inning, but two of those outs were very hard hit balls that were held up by a fierce wind blowing in from right. Abe Alvarez looked good in his inning (6th).
