Back

Home at 8:30! Ended up not hearing *any* of this afternoon's game. In fact, we did not even get a score until 6:30 or so. Nice of the Red Sox to split the series and lose both games we were at .... Booooooo.

It seems there was some other Red Sox-related story today, no? I think L and I listened to more sports radio this afternoon than we have in our entire lives.

What a day! I was sure we'd hear today's game on the radio. Hear it? We were almost in Ontario by the time we found out who had won!

And when we turned on the radio to try to get a score, practically the first three words we hear are David, Ortiz and steroids! Oy.

And by the way, thanks Red Sox. We drove 10 hours to see you. Would it have friggin killed you to win a game while we were there?

It is pretty appalling how hard it is to find the Sox on the radio in Massachusetts, even when you know the call numbers for the Red Sox Radio Network.

By the time the game started, we were in New York State. I thought we'd find an affiliate in Western New York, but there was nothing.

At one point, a stupid talk radio guy said, "So the Red Sox game is a final, and now we turn to NFL news..." - but he never said who won!!! Forget the score, we couldn't even get an outcome. It was pretty silly.

Damn, I just knew we'd hear Papi's name eventually in all this shit. I bet all the big names are there. I just don't understand why a name keeps getting dropped here, and a name there. Either the list is confidential or not. If you're going to confirm any of the names on it you should release them all.
I'm still there for him.
And thx to A & L for organizing a great event. It has turned into a "just what I needed" type of thing for me. Spent all day today in Coperstown at the Hall of Fame, and I'm writing this right now from a hotel overlooking Times Square. (A big Thank You to Taylor, my son who has a gazillion points on his credit card and got me this room au gratis) My friend Chris has never been to NYC and we just spent an hour walking around T Sq. and had some hole-in-the-wall NYC pizza, the best in the world!
Lastly - driving 10 hours?
Cakewalk!
Try 14.5 :)

In '07 my dad and I went to two of the last 4 games, a series against the Twins. The series was split and we saw the wrong two games.

I feel ya.

The drive was great - no complaints there. It was the losing I was complaining about.

So glad you got to NYC! Is it 14.5 hours home from there, or from Boston?

I feel the same way (even though this is the wrong thread). I've long suspected/assumed Ortiz's name would come up. I couldn't care less in terms of being a fan, I just feel bad for the players. Confidential, anonymous testing? They've been screwed. At this point, the whole list has to be released.

I remember that. :/
