Maybe we should try to trade for a journeyman relief pitcher from Toronto because this team is looking increasingly happless.

If someone posted late last Aug. that the Sox wouldn't make the playoffs last fall, Tito and Theo would leave, Sox would hire Bobby V. as manager, would trade Crawford, Beckett and Gonzalez and be 8 games or so under .500 this year... you'd have thought them mad.

Hell, if any ONE of those things had happened, I'd think the person was nuts. ... Fucking A, what a year.

Over the past calendar year, the Red Sox are 69-90, 3rd-worst record in the AL and 6th-worst in MLB. ... There are only four AL starters with an ERA over 5.00 since last September. Two of them are Beckett and Lester.

I'm just hoping that at this point we've hit bottom.

Fun Facts!

The A's scored their most runs since a 23-2 win over Texas on September 30, 2000.

They handed the Red Sox their most lopsided loss since a 22-1 defeat to the Yankees on June 19, 2000.

The A's had a season-best 19 hits and scored 20 runs for the fourth time in Oakland history.

Boston allowed 20 for the first time since August 21, 2009, against the Yankees.

Oakland has won six straight over Boston - the Red Sox's longest skid in the series since also dropping six straight in 1969.
