G105: Red Sox 6, Royals 4

Tim Wakefield (on his 39th birthday) gave up four runs (on two long balls) in the first three innings. But then Manny Ramirez drilled a three-run shot to dead center in the fourth (after no-out walks to Renteria and Ortiz), and the Red Sox added three more in the seventh (Manny drove in one of those, too) for the win.

Out in Cleveland, Bob Wickman retired Derek Jeter with the tying run in scoring position and the Yankees lost 6-5.

The Red Sox have won six games in a row and 10 of their last 13. They lead the East by 3.5 games. ... I think we're going to have some fun in August.
