Nnnnnope. Went to Al Franken movie instead.
Sox scored a run in each of the last 3 innings.7th: Tek ripped a 2-out 2B to drive in Papi (3-4 for the Captain.)8th: Hinske got things rolling with a 1 out single, followed by back to back bloop singles from Youk and Loretta off of Ray (the latter scoring the tying run)9th: Rodrigo Lopez walked the bases loaded (Cora's was an IBB after Pedroia bunted for out #1) After a strikout looking by Youk, Loretta delivered again with an RBI single.*We still stranded 15 runners, but Loretta's hit finally broke the drought of bases loaded squanders.Bottom of the 9th: Mora hits a 2B, goes to 3rd on a shallow fly (Coco would have nailed him) Iron Mike walks Tejad intentionally, and the strategy works as R. Hernandez bounces to Cora for the 6-4-3 game ending DP.*Burns threw real well, as did Hansen and Foulke.
I watched a movie. First game I purposely missed this season.
The Globe reported this morning that Manny will most likely shut it down for the balance of the year due to the "patellar tendinitis" condition that has plagued him since before the All-Star break. As the debate will undoubtedly continue on the legitimacy of Manny's condition (see comments by Lowell), with the season gone let's hope Tito gives reps to the younger guys (e.g., Murphy, Wily Mo, Pedroia, et al) to see what they're made of in preparation for next year.Especially this weekend, as the MFY fandom prepares to enjoy an extended dance on the grave of the '06 Sox, it will be good to see how these guys acquit themselves in hostile territory...
Joel Sherman predicting in NY Post that Yankee fans will compare Papi's "denouncing" of Derek Jeter to ARod's dumping on him years ago in an Esquire mag interview.http://www.nypost.com/sports/yankees/ortiz_likely_to_get_the_biggest_bronx_cheer_yankees_joel_sherman.htm Thus the epic booing of Ortiz by enraged Yankee fans is a given. Those erudite and fiercely loyal Yankee fans. Re: last night's game, I chose to check out 'My Name is Earl', with occasional flips to see who was at-bat. Didn't miss much Sox and Earl still looks irreverent enough to belong on Canadian TV (hi, Jack Marshall).
Just as long as the Yankees do NO DANCING at our expense this weekend. We CANNOT let them clinch in this series. Please!
I agree, Peter N and Jere. Even though it would be meaningless in terms of October, wouldn't it be nice to sweep this weekend? Hey, a girl can't dream, can't she.
RedSock - thanx for this blog it is a hoot! All of you JoS bloggers - you are nuts.As for last nights game - I never turned on the TV - I sat there and watched the blank screen. It was a perfect game - no runs, no hits and no errors! I went to bed happy! Oh yeah - try it you'll like it.PS - I named my fantasy team the BoSox and started the season with the Red Sox players as my team. I now have only two of the Sox left - Manny and Papelbon - and they are riding the bench for my fantasy team too! WHAT A FREAKIN YEAR THIS TURNED OUT TO BE! (yes I know that was meant to be shouted). Okay folks, I am going to the big screen with surround sound and without turning it on watch tonight's game. I bet I see a replay! LoL - see ya later!I HATE the MFYs
WTF was that about?
