If he was "all the could hope for" it shows where expectations are.
Call me 'old school', but I still cling to the notion that there is a distinction between 'sports' and 'entertainment'. It's constant shit like this that make it a losing battle.
I watched the game. Fat Billy pitched as good as he thought he had to against a mediocre lineup and still ran out of gas in the 6th. It wasn't a hot day, but he was starting to break into that Giambi-type primal ooze sweat that you fear will seep into your living room. Wait till he faces good teams. If that's going to take the heat off Bruney, Farnsworth, Proctor et al, I guess I'm missing something.
I figured it would be a media orgasm in the apple...can't wait to read the proclamations of this incredible winning streak they're on in the papers tomorrow. (Just tuned in to see slappy's 3 run HR)
If they do in fact sweep, you guys realize that at this pace (the last 3 games), they're going to win every game for the rest of the year!!!!! [/idiot media comment]
Boy do I hate that man.
If he can give them 6 IP per start and a 4.50 ERA -- which is what he did yesterday -- that has to be better than one of their AAAA rejects.
But the next morning, when Mr. Team Player has jetted off to spend the next four days with his family, they are the same old club.
Clemens's start gives him a 94 ERA+.
Joel Pineiro's ERA+ is 93.
'Nuf Ced.
he's a hired fucking mercenary. just one more example showing that the [group of baseball players] affectionately known as the MFY, doesn't give a rats ass about anything to do with the word team.
Roger Clemens just isn't scary anymore. I'd much rather have Tavarez or Lester, especially at their salaries.
Roger Clemens was especially visible in the dugout yesterday.
To all those expecting him to abandon the team between every outing - you're idiots.

Idiotic is showing up at a Red Sox blog to call people idiots. You contribute nothing, and just further the stereotype of your team's fans.

If he pitches on par with Julian Tavarez, they may want him to stay home even on days he's supposed to pitch.
I contributed the missed fact that Roger Clemens didn't in fact get a plane ride home in between innings. He was even with the team the next day!
"But the next morning, when Mr. Team Player has jetted off to spend the next four days with his family, they are the same old club."
Hey, guess what didn't happen. Care to retract your silly and incorrect statement? Or are you satisfied with your own echo?

Uh-huh.
"But the next morning ... they are the same old club."
I'll stand by my statement.
He was there again today. They also have a seven game winning streak. I'll take that, if it's what you're offering.
