Carlos Delgado has signed a minor league contract with the Red Sox.
According to his agent, Delgado "will probably need a week to two weeks in order to get his timing down at the plate and his repetition in the field".
Delgado, 38, has had surgery on his right hip twice in the last 15 months. His contract is for $20,000/month at AAA and a pro-rated portion of $3 million in the bigs. The Red Sox will not offer him arbitration and he can opt for fre agency if he is not in Boston on September 1.

And about 10 minutes ago, Alex Rodriguez was hit in the left leg during BP by a ball hit by Lance Berkman.
Globe: "Limping badly, Rodriguez made his way behind the screen behind second base and collapsed to the grass. He was then escorted off the field by team medical personnel."
Yay Delgado.
