G153: Red Sox 6, Twins 0

And in the seventh, Ortiz (#52) and Lowell (#18) go back-to-back for a 6-0 lead. Beckett brings his too-seldom-seen A-game (8-6-0-0-5, 103) and the Red Sox keep elimination at bay for another day.

***

7:24 PM -- Bottom of the first, none on, 2 outs, first pitch, crushed to deep right-center:

***

Johan Santana (2.77) / Josh Beckett (5.02), 7 PM

If the Twins win tonight, Boston will be officially eliminated from the wild card race.

Dustin Pedroia has hit safely in his last five games (6-for-12).

EDIT from previous thread since this one suits it better:

good pitching match-up tonight.

I hope Ortiz hits a rocket line-drive off of Santana's forehead that deflects over the monster for a HR rendering Santana on the DL for the post-season. that would be a site to see.

Yankees are 11/10 to win the pennant and 3/2 to win the world series

Yea, but I'm just sayin'. I the fuck care. Why not post it? Feel free to go onto a yankees blog and write about the 2004 ALCS

EDIT- instead of putting a "51" for a pic. You should have put "Fiddy-one". That would've been funny.

Why on earth would I do that?

Honestly, I cannot imagine what kind of mindset goes into that, for anyone over the age of 12.

I enjoy my team. I don't need to put down other people's teams. Why would I?

Why do you?

I never did put any team down. If anything, I put Santana down.

You must love to hate me, don't you?

Coming here and posting the odds on the Yankees is hostile and belligerent. As well you know.

You must love to hate me, don't you?

Nope. I don't hate you. I don't even know you, and I have no reason to hate you. In fact, when other Red Sox fans here have put you down, I've defended you. I guess you don't remember that.

I just don't understand why you waste your time here, and I wish you would go away. But it's not up to me.

Ok, done.

And Number 52. The man is not human.

The man is not human.

We were just saying that very same thing. Clearly an alien from a galaxy of superior beings.

How great that he was able to do this at home!! Yay.

From Area 51.

Or 52, apparently.

Papi is the man.

Don't look now, but Beckett has pitched well thte last 2 times. He even got the ERA below 5.

Thanks, Josh. Great timing.

Exactly. NOW Beckett pitches like the ace he was supposed to be. Screw him. I'll remember his wretched and gutless game against New York in August when the season was still salvageable, walking 9 batters and kicking the game and the season into the garbage can, until he shows me that he can pitch a great game when it matters. Now. I'm sick of hearing about 2003.

If I could spell a Bronx cheer, I would.

I believe the actual spelling is:

"Y-A-H-N--K-E-E-Z, B-A-Y--B-E-E"

Seeing Josh do well makes this all the more frustrating. I was thinking, these last few weeks, if we could just somehow get a couple more wins here and there, and were in position to make a serious run, we'd still have this talent at our disposal, like Beckett for example, which could help us go far IF we could sneak intoo the playoffs. And look, he shows us what he CAN do, but it's too late. But without Manny and Papelbon, I guess we were kinda screwed anyway.

Hello, Allan. After the Red Sox blanked the Twins last night, I couldn't resist co-featuring The Joy of Sox in "The Catch" today. If you click on More, you'll see a plug for your books. As a Braves fan with nothing to play for, sometimes it's fun playing spoiler, like we did the other night against Florida. But let's talk about next year for a second. What do you think Boston would give Atlanta for Andruw Jones? And do you like that trade idea?

When you said that, there was an uproarious cheer (in my head) much like the one by the Texans standing around Pee-Wee Herman when he said he remembered the Alamo.
