Yankees - 010 030 011 - 6 12 1Jeemer and Snuffer get beat in a hell of a game (and Slappy'll get some positive press with his solo home run in the 9th off the 'bot).
Red Sox - 000 050 000 - 5 11 1
The Sox should be plenty tired when they touch down in Oakland early Monday morning -- still holding an 10.5-game lead.

Shouldn't you wait until you got someone lined up to come over before you pop the pill?
Tim?
lol.
c'mon don don!!
again with the friggin shallow and angles comment by Morgan... somebody slap him
again with the manny's playing too shallow. give it up, guys.
I'm not even going to try and say anything about this predicament I've gotten myself into. Going to cut my losses and move on with life...so how about that W.B. Mason...
LOL
jeff, get outta my head ;-)
Miller knows where its at with the cialis ad...
A POP UP!
its cause they love to pick on manny.
did a-rod try to yell anything right there? wouldn't be surprised.
Tim good idea
Bed: "Please don't shit me, BD."
nice pitch by Donnelly
lolzzz
could so go for taco bell right now ;/
Jemmer coming in ... in the 7th.
Can he also go the 8th and Snuffer for the 9th?
Good move by Tito, though. Get the out here and worry about that later.
Bed: please don't shit me?? This could open up a whole new comment type.
Am not sure that I like Posada hitting from the right side. A wall ball could score two.
o-ka-ji-ma!!
Okie the man...
Jeeeemmmmmeeeeeeer!!!!!!!
Jeemer and Ococ get it done. Looove it.
Papi is going to get one this inning
Okajima is only 1-0...he must be complete shit according to the Joe Morgan strategy for rating pitchers.
becks is all ecstatic xox
Money.
All hail the Jeemer!!!
I wouldn't mind another run or two. Not that we need it, but hey.
Jeff said...

agreed.
Bed: "Thanks, guys! My sheets remain soft and fluffy."
WTF? Why are they singing GBA?
Bed: "Thanks, guys! My sheets remain soft and fluffy."
Good ol' bed.
lets get to the BP...
Nah, he'll just single or double. I'd love to be wrong upwards, though.
OK, not this time. Manny? Couldja grace us with one tonight?
oh man i hate that first pitch, out shit.
Thanks, Manny!!!
Man, this prognostication stuff is hard work.
what a slide!
lol ahdfhsjd. oh manny. heart pour vouz ;D
oh man i hate that first pitch, out shit.
me too
Has Morgan ever watched a Sox game before? Never seen Manny slide head first?
Off by one error, I guess.
Manny "Pete Rose" Ramirez!!
See?
Morgan does not watch any baseball. Thus, his constant "I don't know" comments in his ESPN chats.
cmon youk!!!!
Just popped in here to talk about that Morgan call--Manny's only done that slide like 10 times in the last week....
Has Morgan ever watched a Sox game before?
nope
what's that you say, jon miller? the yankees had a 4-0 lead at one point? and they couldn't hold it? AS PER USUAL?
Morgan does not watch any baseball. Thus, his constant "I don't know" comments in his ESPN chats.
He really sounds like he came out of some cave in siberia to do this broadcast.
Hey Jere. I guess you're not at the game tonight.
It's not only bad because he didn't know, but the way he says it laughingly, like "You wouldn't expect a guy who never hustles to do THAT, ha ha ha"
Terrible.
wtf is with these camera men, this is the second time that a routine fly has looked like a booming blast.
500, Joe. Not 300, you fool.
Not at game--but I'm sure I'll be around here for commenting on the west coast games this week. I hope y'all are up. I am a nightowl.....
And these guys call *Manny* lazy! People who can't even bother to prepare for their own cushy jobs.
Joe is surprised to learn Lowell leads Sox in RBI. Look at the press notes, you fucking joke.
West coast games suck for me. I get up early, can't make it past the 3rd inning. I keep waking up to ask the score and flopping back down.
I hate Farnsworth.
Jeemer needs three quick outs here.
I thought I heard 300!! Thought I heard wrong. Shoulda known better.

i thought the same thing.
I knew I would hate turning the sound on. But it's this or nothing.
... look at it slice, look at it slice, see it's slicing, the ball slices away, it's gonna slice ...
SHUT UP!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I think the wind may be knocking down a few. Pretty good one coming in from CF.
games used to be on nesn on the weekends. i swear they did. i miss it ;/
i didn't realize that craigslist had personals
Welcome to a weird world. I myself found a lot of amusement (Craigslist started here in San Francisco and it's very big here).
Careful -- it also got me married.
It is really windy there. I'm just saying.
lol.
ZS, cool. I know lots of great couples that met through personal ads. Even back when it was print.
I heart Craigslist. Dogwalkers, washer/dryers, selling my old shit.
joe says okajima has a normal motion -- yeah except for staring at the ground when he releases the ball -- which joe will fnally notice sometime in 2011.
maybe.
Flag has been blapping pretty good. Also, Lowell's first AB sounded great and died before the warning track.
Bowr! I f'ed up the italics.
A, this is why you have to have the sound off. You obsess.
I thought you did those itals on purpose. :)
joe says okajima has a normal motion -- yeah except for staring at the ground when he releases the ball -- which joe will fnally notice sometime in 2011.
maybe.
lol. it's amazing the things he says. i mean, plz. he looks like an anime character or something when he pitches. ANYthing but normal.
...
fuck i hate cano.
SHIT. Friggin canoe. Now we gotta do *another* comeback.
tried to go one day to many with the jeemer.
uh it's not a blown save if its not the 9th.
right?
its a blown save
that was effing strike 3. the hell.
k-zone is dumb. it shows where the pitch ends up not where it goes over the plate.
snyder?
no no no no no no no no no
BOT!
K!!! Yeah Jeemer. Just don't let them go ahead.
omg, joe noticed that he looks down.
it's 2011 already!!
hahahahha
its a blown save
ok. i just thought it wouldnt be a true save until we had 1 last chance to score or something.
beautiful!
ba ba bamba..
tim's gone. i guess someone came over. ;-)
lolz!
yes. yes.
yes yes yes.
k boys. here we go ;D
1, 2, 3. man on 3rd, no outs and they don't score. nice!
maybe 36 hours returned his call!!
Jeemer!!!
jeemer gets judas!
"maybe 36 hours returned his call!!"
LOL
BOTH
great pitching and poor hitting
I know the trivia answer. It's my guy.
WRONG, Morgan. Who cares how hard he throws, he's GREAT.
not sure anyone noticed but we blew threw the record comments posts like 12 comments ago. We need WMP to go deep.
i don't usually join the game threads. i'm adding quantity.
cobb?
oo, abreu caught another one!
WRONG JOE, it is NOT walter johnson. it's my guy lou. come on.
gehrig
speaking of cereal, let's go coco.
you and curt, you're not so different ...
:>)
Seems early for Papelbon.
mmm coco puffs.
nice segue there, cereal
"you and curt, you're not so different ..."
argh.
hey, better curt than cobb, that racist.
a whole team of base stealers? has anyone ever seen such a thing?
Who's got the walk off tonight?
Papi hits walkoff in the 9th
not early. he's our best available arm.
Every time they show Torre, I imagine him thinking, I coulda retired after 2000... I coulda been in Florida right now, relaxing on the beach with Ali, what the eff and am I doing here...
walkoff = pokerwolf?
manuel.
here we go, dusty's our man...
nice fielding!!!
not who *hits* the walkoff, who's got tonight in the contest. pokerwolf, I think.
damn, how'd he catch that??? dusty can't believe it.
that goddamn camera work.
stage being set for flo.
^^yep.
gotta win in 9. no extras pls.
snuffer time! then papi finally gives us our walkoff.
morgan throws out some numbers on jeter hitting -- "whatever".
the worldwide leader.
these games...
I think Youk gets the walkoff tonight.
yooooooooook
YOOK.
these games... ? the suspense is killing me.
yooooooooooooooook
CI: 0-for-5.
Tangible.
How about I throw out some numbers:
First time all year bot has came in with the game tied :).
PAPI ENDS THIS ON ONE SWING IN THE BOTTOM vs rivera.
I haven't read anything negative about Pap's fastball, but it's slowed down a good 5-6 MPH since the beginning of the season. Concerning?
just got home - i live for these games.
i just mean 'these games...' like, they're always like this. between us and them. intense. stressful. great.
Nevermind.
93 mph is good enough for Abreu.
oh yes.
concerning? not right now.
oh yeah. these games...
yep.
joe says K on abreu was "in, under the hands"; k-zone shows it was somewhat outside.
snuffer!!!!!!!!!!!
holy shit
crap!
oh motherfuck.
damn it.
jeemer and snuffer both giving it up on the same night! what are the odds.
shit. that was clutch. shit.
...
papi ties, yook wins.
Fuckin' A-Rod!
i hate the yankees.
Got to give that one to A-rod, that was a good pitch.
Now we need the back to backs.
mo's coming in. it ain't ova. obviously.
edit: papi gets on, manny clears the wall.
that's it.
nice. ok. rather it happened with the game 5-5. BUT OK!!! ;//
another shitty horror movie coming out soon. hurray!
A good pitch?? A good pitch on 0-2 is a foot outside! I don't care how many games we're up, what hitter's up, in that situation you waste a pitch. Let alone when it's tied in the ninth with a good hitter up. You waste a goddamn pitch.
Now we'll have to win comeback walkoff style.
ugh that was bad. fucking a-rod. hate that douche.
i'm seeing canadian ads.
ortiz, manny and youk all walk and lowell hits a grand slam over the wall off of rivera's head. that's my call.
papi plzzz!!!!!!
Obviously, with Lugo at the plate, uncharacteristic runs given up by Okaji & Papelbon, it's a bit tough. But this is not the kind of game you hate to lose. If we hadn't had the five-run inning -- that game I'd hate to lose. But even if the Yanks win this, they'll have to feel their weaknesses were just barely contained.
Not that I'm giving up hope! Manny 2R HR suits me fine.
zs, i agree. always better to win, but it's not a heartbreaker. (nothing is for me, with the team up by this much.)
btb hrs pls
pokerwolf needs reading material!!
pokerwolf can't win tonight. papi hr ties it.
making him work...
As the clock strikes twelve this is not how you want to get out of town on a west coast road trip.
C'mon Papi.
Jere - when a guy hits a ball on the outside corner thats going down, that is a good pitch. You throw waste pitches when the guy will chase like posada. A-Rod doesn't chase.
again abreu! fuckin a.
Damn. Thought it was gone.
AKSJDFHKLSJDHFKSH FUCKJKLSJDF
i'm going to kill that camera.
DAMN.
my heart stopped there for a minute.
yeah we all did
manny. it's you.
all is not lost. there is still hope.
the wind is strong tonight too. sayin.
there's tons of hope. win or lose, we got truckloads of hope.
with all due respect, s1c, you throw it further outside than that on 0-2, throw that pitch on 1-2. If you say he doesn't chase, you also have to admit he CAN hit that pitch out, because he did. Can't risk that, but he did. I throw it way outside or have Tek do the stand up, and throw it at eye level. On 0-2.
Drinkwater leaves? Our best hitter's coming up!
Ouch!
No swing, assholes.
tying run's on base!
Take all the time you want, Youk, make Mo think. Oh, guess not.
It's Mike Time!!!!
Pro 2.0!
tek do the stand up? oy.
ok mike.
tonight is lowell's.
0-2, damn
Has Lowell ever had a Walkoff?
yeah yeah, 1 strike away from being 12.5 gb
crap.
ah well.
g'night folks. i'll miss y'all on the west coast trip.
wow. that was one hell of a game.
(back to work!)
crap.
meh. oh no we're only 12.5 games up now. boo-hoo...
hi oakland.
Ah, well. Funny that given how far out the Yanks still are, the season series is at a respectable 7/5 split.
'Night, all.
it was a great game. bad to lose a series to them, but i guess it's bound to happen once a season.
don't work too hard, A. almost quitting time. :)
Wait, we lost the last series to them, too.
L: Why you no likey the Tek stand up?
I hate Sunday night losses. No late night talk shows to get me through til bedtime.
L is probably asleep, so I'll answer, since I hate it too.
It never works. The only player who falls for it and whiffs is Varitek himself -- when the other team does it.
It's maddening.
Wait, we lost the last series to them, too.
The sky is falling!!! We're doomed!!!!
The MFY (24-30) need to win their next six games in a row to reach .500 -- a seven-game winning streak.
Their longest winning streak so far this year? 3 games.
"Wait, we lost the last series to them, too.
The sky is falling!!! We're doomed!!!!"
L-girl said that losing a series to the Yanks is bound to happen ONCE a season, after we lost TWO series to them in a row. I was just pointing that out. I have three years-plus of a blog, plus hundreds of comments here all proving I am, always have been, and always will be an optimistic Sox fan. While you were scoring Game 3 of the 2004 ALCS til the end, I was sitting in the bleachers of it til the end!
(Not meant to imply I was doing something better than you, just that I was even a live witness to that travesty, and I refused to give up as well.)
And about the stand-up: Fine, he doesn't have to actually stand--my point was about wasting a pitch, and that's one way to show the pitcher not to throw a pitch anywhere near the plate, especially in a situation like tonight.
I was being sarcastic.
Game 3 must have been a long night. Were you at 4 or 5?
Lost series to NYY - oops, I forgot about that.
This points to a difference btn me and Jere. I don't really care more about these games than any others. I do in the sense that they're exciting and it's always great to beat the Yankees - but beating the Yankees is not my 1st priority. In the end our record against the Yankees is not what counts (for me).
Jere once said he'd rather lose a few games in the standings and see more teams between us and NYY. I'd rather be as many GA as possible, even if the Yankees were in 2nd place.
Tek standing: I don't find it maddening. Just silly, because I don't think it works.
What to throw on 2-0 count: The way the Sox are playing, the way the season is going, I just don't get mad about one pitch, one run. I'm a big-picture kinda girl. For me it's just one pitch, just one game, we're still solidly in first, and on to Oakland.
(I'm not saying my attitude is better or worse than anyone else's. It just is.)
I should have broken up this long comment to help us reach 400!
#400!
yeah i listened to the last couple innings last night driving up to waterloo...good thing i listened on the radio, i would've had to remove my foot from my TV had i listened to Morgan for any longer.
