Jacoby Ellsbury (sore right groin) may return to the lineup tonight. That would be good news because J.D. Drew (sore left quad) is still out and Coco Crisp "tweaked his knee" last night.
Jason Varitek was 1-for-his-last-17 before singling in the winning run.
The Red Sox's last consecutive walkoff wins? June 24 and 26, 2006, against the Phillies.
The starting rotation has turned in four straight outings of at least seven innings and two or fewer runs allowed. It's the first time since April 12-15, 1997 (John Wasdin, Tom Gordon, Tim Wakefield and Aaron Sele). Clay Buchholz, Josh Beckett, Jon Lester and Daisuke Matsuzaka have allowed a total of three earned runs on 10 hits in 30 innings (0.90 ERA), while striking out 32.
Boston finished April with a 17-12 record, winning eight games in their final at-bat.
Manny Delcarmen is struggling. He has pitched in 14 games and has allowed a run in seven of them (including his last four). He has also allowed 7 of 12 inherited runners to score.

hey there, - So I have been pretty religiously checking JOS since last summer and it has certainly enhanced my knowledge of and appreciation for sox baseball considerably. I am super busy w/ having just had a baby last year, among other things, so keeping up w/ the Sox via your awesome commentary, links, and analysis has been quite a Joy, for really real.
I just wanted to say hi and thanks. The only other few comments I have left here have been somewhat contentious, so I wanted to make sure to send some gratitude and props your way. keep it up!
Also, 2 things to share that may have gone under the radar...
the first is a great interview/write up w/ Scott Boras re: all things Manny.

The second, which I'm sure just popped on many folks' radars cuz they posted it on their blog just now, is the Globe's Home Run Tracker, also for Manny. It's pretty extensive and impressive. I just learned he has hit the most home runs on the first pitch, than in any other count, and somehow in his whole career only has 19 home runs in a 3-1 count.

peace and good beats.
Hooray for linkspamming.
As to Ellsbury, I realize that "right groin" is shorthand for "righthand region of his groin" or "groin area on the right leg", but the idea of Ellsbury being so badass that he has multiple groins is amusing.
