Stolen Moments

Jacoby Ellsbury stole nine bases in nine attempts last season. So far in 2008, he's a perfect 8-for-8.

According to Jason Paré's research, published by Baseball Prospectus, Ellsbury's streak of 17 is the "third-most steals to begin a career without being caught":
Player SB First Last
Tim Raines 27 15-Sep-79 2-May-81
Mitchell Page 26 10-Apr-77 13-Aug-77
Jacoby Ellsbury 17 2-Jul-07 ???
Davey Lopes 17 23-Sep-72 20-May-73
Al Weis 16 23-Sep-62 20-Sep-63

LEE TINSLEY????

Now that I'm over my shock about Lee: doesn't the last game make it clear that Lyndon has to be in the line-up every day, whether Coco gets upset or not? Even if Coco returned to his Cleveland level of production, he doesn't spark the team like Jacoby, and I finally have given up on that ever happening. The way I look at it, the ball is in Theo's court: Francona has to play Ellsbury, and the more Coco sits, the less valuable he is. So, Boy Genius, do something NOW!!

That stat confused me ....because it is to start a career not at any time in a career........

Yeah, I did not make that very clear. I think I fixed it now.

Coco

As long as Lyndon plays like this, or even almost as good as this, he's the everyday CF. And leadoff hitter. No question.
