It looked like Pap had gotten his mojo back, if you will... Two big fastballs right by him. I thought he'd strike him out. Damn. I was genuinely shocked right there.
And that's not something we've seen much of with the Red Sox in the past few years - having walk-off losses. Not much of them.
So was this bad luck again or is he feeling anxious or was he just not as sharp? I still say his pitches weren't as sharp last time, though he also had some awful luck.
This is where the defensive indifference to the runners stealing can hurt you. Pap on a slide, not a good thing. But he'll be back, he's a competitor. The wasted insurance run opps also looming large right now. We need our Papi back.
It's just a loss, folks. It's not a sign of the apocalypse. There are other good teams out there, and sometimes they will beat us. Some shitty teams will, too.

He certainly didn't have to walk Gomez. Threw two straight splitters on balls 3 and 4. Didn't really challenge him in the latter part of the AB. It was as if he was afraid of the game being tied.
It's certainly not the end of the world, but one of the big reasons we game thread is to discuss how things go right and how they go wrong. They'll be fine, still. Just hurts that this has happened twice in three nights.
I mentioned the 2 runners as soon as the game ended. I think that's a little ballsy, to just say "who cares? This guy ain't gonna hit me" Make 'em earn it dammit! Oh well, just 1 game. Actually 2, though, a little disconcerting, considering how they both were lost.
I think the mindblowing thing about Bot is , he seems to be keeping the ball up waist high .....and has only struck out 1 in his last 6 outings....still throwing gas just elevating a little .........
An absolutely brutal walk to a guy who has only walked 4 times this year, an offense that left 11 on and couldn't add to the lead, and a SS we're stuck with who appears to have his head up his ass in the field.

The water, suddenly, is clean.

That's the first time in a good while I remember doing the one-strike-away stand up and clap only to lose on that pitch.
Lost his dominance? Where are you getting that from?
10 LOB hurts.

ARGGH.

No need to read into it.
those two uncontested stolen bases are pissing me off right now. they put the two runners in a position to score on that flair.

Or Varitek was.
Why would Bot be anxious? Is there any evidence of that?
Yes, LOBs hurt when you lose a close game.
I better get out of here, I hate this port-mortem shite. Have a good night everyone! See you tomw.
yeah I hate when we treat a runner like we have a two-run lead. Those are the runners you ignore. Not the tying and winning runs.

I really think they had to have been afraid of tying the game.

pap is so pissed he's calm. (same here?)
yah they were all stealing on us so much i thought they were gonna just let them steal home, the fuck.

Bunny Cam will cheer me up!

Friday night.
That means breakfast at Duke's at 5:45 so we can hit the fields by 6:30.
I'm off to bed!

Tonight's culprits.
God, I'm pissed.
