Diamondbacks - 020 000 000 - 2 6 0Lester: 7-4-2-3-7, 103. Three of the four hits he allowed came in the second inning. After that, Lester allowed only one hit over his last 21 batters (5.2 innings) faced. There were three walks and a HBP within that 21-batter stretch, but the only threat came in the fourth, when Arizona (trailing 4-2) had the bases loaded and one out. Lester struck out Rusty Ryal and got Chris Snyder to fly to center.
Red Sox - 202 000 20x - 6 10 0
Dustin Pedroia hit a two-run home run in the first. He also singled and stole second to begin the third. David Ortiz followed that with a walk and, with two outs, J.D. Drew's double scored FY and Adrian Beltre's second single of the night brought home Flo. Kevin Youkilis jacked a two-run dong in the seventh (Ortiz was aboard).
Marco Scutaro singled twice, Ortiz walked twice and singled. FWIW, Victor Martinez had three fly outs to the warning track. (Also, FWIW, Mark Grace, the "analyst" on the D'backs' FSN affiliate, is a Sutcliffian* moron. His stupidity is actually scary.)
* I think I just invented a useful word.
Daniel Bard had an easy eighth, but Ramon Ramirez allowed a walk and a single to start the Snakes' ninth. Ram2 got two fly outs from the 8/9 hitters before Tito handed the ball to Jonathan Papelbon, who retired Kelly Johnson on a fly to Darnell McDonald in left.
It was Arizona's 12th straight road loss -- a new franchise record.
The Rays lost 6-2 and the Yankees lost 6-3 (Burnett: 3.1-6-6-4-3, 87), so the Red Sox are now 3 GB.Rodrigo Lopez / Jon Lester
Lester gave up six runs in six innings in his last start, but he still has a 1.96 ERA over his last 10 starts (since April 19).Scutaro, SS
Pedroia, 2B
Ortiz, DH
Youkilis, 1B
Martinez, C
Drew, RF
Beltre, 3B

Also at 7 PM:
Phillies/YankeesJune 16, 1938: Jimmie Foxx of the Red Sox is walked intentionally by the Browns in all six of his plate appearances. It is an American League record for a nine-inning game and ties the NL mark set by Walt Wilmot of the Chicago Colts on August 22, 1891. (The post-1900 NL record is five, held by many players.)

Happy Bloomsday!
I'm Rodridgo Lopez. You may remember me from such asskickings as:
April 26, 2005: 3.1-7-8-4-3
May 15, 2006: 4-10-8-4-4
6:35: Tarp was on. Now it's off.
No rain here in western MA. Weather should be ok.
I will be in and out, got stuff to do so we can head out to the Cape tomorrow.
Howdy. We are driving to DC area, waiting for the game to start to listen on XM. I'll probably be in and out of cell service.
Woohoo. We have WEEI.
MrsG, did you say you were heading to Boston and Chicago? By car??
No. We are flying out of Dulles. We'll spend the night near Dulles and fly out in the morning. It's about a 2 hour drive to the airport.
we are stuck with the snakes fox team.
Ahh, that sounds a lot less tiring than driving both to Boston and Chicago. What are you doing in Boston? Will you get to Fenway?
I would love to be driving to Chicago listening to the Sox on the radio. My idea of heaven. Have a great trip, Mrs G.
i think mark garce is the color guy. he just said he did not realize lester could throw 96. ... well, lester is pretty new to the big leagues and he has never faced a NL team in a high profile situation like a world series. so it's understandable.
MrsG, for future reference, XM always uses the home team's announcers for its broadcasts.
Wow, we almost have our starting nine in the lineup. 8 of 9.
Amy. We get to Boston on Saturday. Will make it to the dodgers game on Sunday.
Go figure. My son wants to switch drivers. So no more texting for me. He has challenged me to get 60 mph on his prius like he does.
Go sox
omg - mark grace is an idiot.
and he's a graduate of the rick sutcliffe "everything is the gereatest thing ever" school of broadcasting - he has the same speaking tone.
Whoops. I meant 60 miles per gallon!!
Safe driving! Don't text and drive!
Nice one!
Fuck yeah!
FUCK YEAH!!!!!!!!!!!
fuck you, snakes tv guys1
I think that's the last nail in the coffin of Pedey's slump.
this is the lopez we remember and love.
Carlos Pena -- leadoff bunt single.
Guess that's one way to raise your BA to .198.
2 run dongs by FY are always always fun!!!!
MLB Audio here we come...
Butt-head in trouble vs. Philly. 1-0 Phils and bases loaded with one out.
Victorino clears the bases with a triple. Heh heh. 4-0.
... when is that one going to come down?
On Lansdowne St, or maybe the Pike.
Ah. Blessed DP.
Loved the d-bax guys talking about how great Lester is because of his winning pct. Keep up the great work, guys.
On a related note, swell immigration law your state recently passed!
On a related note, swell immigration law your state recently passed!
We were just talking about that, how Allan hasn't posted about it yet. There's still an opportunity tomorrow.
I hear there was a little protest outside Fenway today, good stuff.
Back in kitchener for the night for steph's graduation tomorrow. Going out for delicious food and wine now so thats it for me in this thread.
Enjoy the hopefully putridly dirty water.

Yeah! Nice. 4-2
What the hell?? I go check the dryer and there are two on base??
THREE on base?
I just got a notification from Google that someone signed into my account in Nigeria. What does that mean? Identity theft? Anyone ever get anything like that?
never heard of that.
maybe change your password to something long with letters and numbers?
Scary. If they got that password, they can get into a lot of my stuff. Yikes.
I stupidly use the same password on many different accounts. It's the only one I can ever remember.
Lesterdini
maybe the notification is bogus? and that is the scam, asking you to log in or do something?
Are you sure it's a real notification?
I think most people use the same pw for multiple accounts.
Google doesn't usually send notifications to anyone. If they're asking you to change your pw, it's probably phony.
Spam right now is full of fake Facebook and Twitter emails asking you to "reset your password".
OK, I changed that password.
Amy, if you want, fwd the email to me. I can look at it if you want. B/c usually Google, Gmail, Blogger, etc. don't contact anyone. The most you can do is post to their user groups and a volunteer might answer your q.
I assume you changed the pw through the Google accounts page, not through that email.
It was a notice at the top of my gmail inbox in black that then linked to a list of recent account accesses, including one from Nigeria. All the rest were from MA, so I don't think it was a scam.
At any case, it's probably smart to change the password after all these years.
It wasn't an email. Just a notice on my Gmail page.
Thanks, Laura. I should have done a screen shot.
Oh that's good, a notice on the page, not an email. Yes, good idea to change it if it's been unchanged for years.
And yet I found this on the Google page regarding security:
"Please note that we aren't able to provide you with information about attempted logins to your account including, but not limited to, the IP address from which the attempted login was made, and the time and date attempted logins occurred."
????
Oh, well, I will hope it means nothing.
Google may not contact people directly but for all sorts of reasons having to do with perceived or possible TOS violations, they do lock up accounts. I know, because it happened to me a few days ago--and I swear I wasn't sending out 5 million emails about vi*gra or promising anyone a big payday if they would only wire me a little earnest money.
Google did give me several ways to restore service, but for a few hours I was really really hating life--a lot of my school/work stuff is totally tied to google/blogger.
If you wanted, you could go to one of the Google user groups and do a search, to see if they are actually posting notices like this.
Changing the pw is good, but I still wonder if that was real or not.
I went back to my Gmail page, clicked on Details, which shows activity on your account, and this was the top entry:
Access Type [ ? ]
(Browser, mobile, POP3, etc.) Location (IP address) [ ? ] Date/Time
(Displayed in your time zone)
Unknown Nigeria (41.211.230.107) Jun 11 (5 days ago)
I will see what I can find through Google Help.
Thanks for the suggestions.
Yay, Scutaro!!!!
Scu Scu Scutaro!
Nice leather, ScuTARo
Wow John, that sucks! I don't know that they never contact users, just that they don't normally and it's almost impossible to just deal with them directly.
Amy: You are not alone.
So if we start receiving email from Amy asking us to wire $10,000 in emergency funds to release her inheritance, we'll know why.
At the hotel. Headed up to the room. Keep the lead.
Thanks, Allan, for the link. Damn it!! I have now changed my password, security question, recovery options, etc. But what if they now have this password and access other accounts? I guess I'd better be pretty vigilant.
And yeah, if you get spam from me, please let me know!
I had changed my Facebook password a while back because someone hacked that account.
And what the hell is with Nigeria?
I read a good story about why Nigeria. I'll see if I can find it.
But what if they now have this password and access other accounts? I guess I'd better be pretty vigilant.
Why not change all your passwords? It would seem like the thing to do.
Easier said than done. I have more accounts than I can remember! As I use them, I can do that, but who even has a list of every place that asks for a password? Every website I subscribe to or shop on? I have no idea.
I don't think it's necessary to change passwords for places you shop online, at least not until you go to use those sites. If anyone is shopping under your name there, you would soon be notified.
I mean important, sensitive things like banking and credit card. You can change those immediately, and you can notify the banks and cc companies that you are at risk for fraud.
Then every time you use any different site, change your password.
Keep a spreadsheet with your new passwords and keep it only on your computer at home and/or on a flash drive, and don't email it anywhere.
Amy. What a bummer. That would be a huge pain. Good luck
I read a good story about why Nigeria. I'll see if I can find it.
Very interested.
i have my logins and passwords on a piece of paper. very old fashioned.
Piece of paper works too. I just type everything, and I like the neatness of a spreadsheet. A piece of paper I'd have to look for each time. A spreadsheet, I always know where it is.
The Nigeria story was from my school. I'll try to get it off a database.
Thanks, everyone. Fortunately, I do not have credit card information or banking information on line with that password as Harvey deals with all that (thank goodness!). I changed Amazon and Ebay and for now, that's all I will do. But a piece of paper! What a novel idea. But what happens when I can't find the piece of paper?
SULTAN OF SWEAT!!!!!!!!!!!
My biggest problem is forgetting my own passwords, so keeping them in some form, electronic or otherwise, makes sense.
YOUK!!!! (Yes, I am still sort of watching the game while fuming here.)
SWEAT POWER BABY!!!!!!!
I'd love to see the Nigeria article also.
A big ol' sweaty dong was just what I needed.
The main thing I was thinking of was banking and credit card, as I do all of that online, for both A and I. Shopping sites are not really important. You can change those pws as you get to them.
I don't like having stuff on pieces of paper, other than daily to-do lists. For me a spreadsheet is just easier, neater and I always know where it is. But either way, you're good.
I am emailing myself a reminder to find that story! :)
I'm busy tomorrow and Friday but I can look for it over the weekend from work.
A delayed YOOUUKKK!!
I don't want to pay for internet at the hotel, so we're watching the game on our phones and I'm in the lobby to join the discussion here. (The internet lobby is too slow to get the game on the computer.)
This is an interesting story, from the New Yorker, on someone who fell for a Nigerian scam: link.
OK, I made the spread sheet. And I also remembered to check my PayPal password. That's the one that I should have thought of first.
And we are breezing along here.
This was not how I wanted to spend the evening, but at least the Sox have made it pretty stressfree!
Yes, PayPal, I include that with banking, since it's linked to your bank account and/or credit card. Good thinking.
at my 1918 email address, which i don't use except for some old mailing list things, i get a lot of emails from "paypal" saying my account has been suspended and i need to login and do stuff to unlock it. obviously, those are scams.
Fortunately my PayPal password was already different since they required more characters than my usual password!
So who pitches the 9th with a four run lead?
richardson?
hall?
pedroia?
I vote for Pedroia.
Who is Richardson?
Ram ram...I should have known.
Who is Richardson?
I think he set you up for that one. :)
You wanna get your "Who's this Doubront?" out of the way before Friday night?
..
Bot up. & Richardson!!!!
You all know what I am thinking. I won't even type it.
I read your post about Doubront. I am all set.
BUT CAN WE PLEASE GET RID OF RAM RAM??
Not a Ramram proof lead tonight.
DP, please, now.
If we lose this game, I will fly around my apartment, chattering like an angry squirrel.
So...there is no Richardson? :)
Zen, that made me smile for the first time since Youk donged it.
Drew Junior---no fire, please.
Thanks, Amy.
When I said "fly", I meant in the air. Levitating.
If I knew how to use B-Ref well enough, I could probably find out how many times DJ and Stephen have played each other in ML games.
There is a Richardson!
Yes, I had the right image, Zen!
wtf is tito wasting bot here?
One. Two.
i also wanted richardson to get the ball to show amy that he actually does exist.
Good to know MrsG has her job covered down there at Dulles!
Maybe Pap needed to throw the ball a bit.
So this becomes a save because?
TB loses, 6-2.
Not easy, my phone can't always keep up.
Posada tying run at the plate with two out in the ninth...strikes out. Yanks lose.
The water is Muddy!!!
Don't drink the water!
Dirty water!
ARZ has lost 12 straight road games -- new franchise record!!!
Sox win, FKR lose, NYY lose. Love it.
Three.
Dirty>>Clean.
Let's gain a game.
wtf is tito wasting bot here?
Because I'm going tomorrow, and they're required to use him up the night before so I won't get to see him....
Aside from my Nigerian hacker, a good night---Sox win, Rays and NYY lose.
See what I mean? I was behind on all of that info.
Yea, gained a game!!!
Dustin Richardson, BTW. I looked it up.
