Hideki Okajima has agreed with the Yankees on a minor league contract with an invitation to spring training.
Okajima, 36, debuted with the Red Sox in 2007 and was superb for three seasons. The Japanese lefty helped Boston win a World Series championship in his rookie year, with a 2.22 ERA and a 0.971 WHIP.
Things went south in 2010, however, and the Red Sox did not call him up last September despite his very solid numbers with the PawSox (2.29, 0.941), though that was seemingly a mutual decision.
