Red Sox - 100 000 000 - 1 6 2 Mariners - 000 400 00x - 4 6 1Silver lining: Boston actually had a lead in this game!?!
Buchholz went seven innings (7-6-4-1-8, 109), and the fourth inning doomed him. Eight Mariners came to the plate, with four singles, a HBP, and two Red Sox errors leading to four runs. Boston lost its seventh straight game.
Dustin Pedroia (14-game hitting streak) and Ryan Kalish each had two hits. Pedroia hit a ground-rule double (his 1,000th career hit) in the first inning and scored on Cody Ross's single.
Further silver lining: The Orioles cut the Yankees' lead in the East to one game.
