Blue Jays - 101 210 002 - 7 8 1 Red Sox - 000 010 112 - 5 7 1Birthday boy Mauro Gomez (he's 28) collected three RBI in the last three innings, but Boston's attempted comeback ran out of innings. Colby Rasmus's two-run homer off Daniel Bard in the top of the ninth ended up being the difference in the game. (The start of the game was delayed 78 minutes by rain.)
Doubront (4-6-5-2-4, 84) - now at 134.2 innings this season, after only 87.2 last year - put the Sox in an early hole. Edwin Encarnacion's sac fly put Toronto on the board in the first, and EE went deep in the third. Moises Sierra hit a two-run homer in the fourth. Doubront was pulled after Rasmus began the fifth with a triple; Rasmus scored on Yunel Escobar's single.
Down 5-0, the Red Sox began chipping away. Ryan Kalish singled and scored on Dustin Pedroia's ground ball in the fifth. In the seventh, Pedro Ciriaco walked, stole second, and came home on Gomez's single. Pedroia hit a solo dong in the eighth, and Gomez smacked a two-run blast with two outs in the ninth.
The Blue Jays (62-75) are now in a tie with the Red Sox (63-76) for fourth place.

John Farrell has been mentioned many times as a possible replacement for Bobby Valentine. But how's about Mike Scioscia? (Me, I'd rather keep BV.)
I saw that about John Farrell as well. Isn't his team the only one we are ahead of in the AL east standings?
I am suprised they haven't mentioned Brad Mills yet.
My vote would be for Ryne Sandbeg.
