Ausmus, Wallach Will Interview For Manager's Job

The Red Sox's search for a manager for 2013 has begun.

Brad Ausmus, a special assistant to the Padres' general manager, will be interviewed next week. The team has also received permission to interview Tim Wallach, the Dodgers' third base coach.

(In case you missed it, Terry Francona will manage Cleveland next season.)

What qualities/philosophy/style/attitude do you think they should be looking for in a manager in these circumstances?

I think , after the debacle that was bobby v, they want a guy who will do exactly what they say, and believes in the Bill James style of playing baseball...

Ausmus is from Cheshire, Ct , just a town over from me.

IMO, it's not the manager - it's the organization as a whole, and in particular the way they're going to communicate from Lucky to Ben to the manager to the team this season. They could hire the best manager in baseball and still be screwed if they don't get that right. One clear improvement will be that they don't so obviously cut Cherington's legs out from under him, this time through in the manager search.
