Delcarmen has allowed nine hits and nine runs in his last three appearances, while recording only three outs. He says he has been experiencing forearm stiffness and will see a doctor on Friday.
I think it's my pronator or flexor mass or something in my forearm. It's been for like a week. It's been getting better every day, just having a little trouble getting extension on the ball. ... It's been sore for a week. Some days are better than others. I felt like I could throw today, but I couldn't get the ball in front. ... I probably shouldn't take [the ball] at times, but I still feel like I go out there and compete. There were problems with MDC last year not being forthright with the team about his health. Hearing him say he is being stubborn and pitching when maybe he thinks he should not makes me wonder whether those issues have been resolved.
Dustin Pedroia has been using the term "laser show" since he was 11 years old. And it turns out that Mike Cameron was fairly shocked at the amount of trash FY talked when he (Cameron) joined the team. (Must see video!)
Theo Epstein:
You have to keep relying on players who might not be household names to most of our fans, but are here for a reason and continue to find ways to win. There's a real good spirit about this club, everyone's pulling for one another. We've thrived on getting contributions from unlikely sources. ...
If we do anything major, anything of real significance, it has to make sense now for the short term and also make sense once we get our guys back and healthy. You don't want to make a major trade that all of a sudden three or four weeks from now doesn't fit. ...
When we get fully healthy later in the year, we should be a force to be reckoned with.

Forearm discomfort isn't good. That's the lead symptom of lots of bad stuff. Hope Manny's OK.
