Well, at least Phil Hughes kept his inning count down.Feinsand, Daily News:
The Yankees starter had his worst outing of the season ... Hughes gave up a season-high six earned runs and a career-high 10 hits in 5.2 innings in his first start in 10 days. ... [T]he pitcher who has been nearly unhittable on some nights this year was battered by one of the worst-hitting teams in baseball.
Seattle, which entered the game ranked last in the American League in runs scored, rocked Hughes for seven runs in 5.2 innings. ...[O]ver his past four starts, the 24-year-old's ERA is 6.29, making this more than a one-start issue.June 30July 1
Jay Greenberg, Post:
Hernandez, who threw a complete-game, two-hit shutout in the Mariners' 7-0 win over the Yankees last night at the Stadium, would have been untouchable in any year. That includes 1927, and 1961, let alone 2010, when it hasn't necessarily taken such wicked movement on a fastball for a pitcher to get the better of the Yankees' better players.July 2George A. King III, Post:
Derek Jeter has an on-base percentage of .346, 30 points below his lifetime average. Mark Teixeira, who had the only well-struck hit last night, is hitting .231. Because Jorge Posada has been hurt so much, the only number fair to report may be his age, 38. ...

I was waiting for another one of these. Thanks.
The only problem is that when I really start reveling in their woes, they go on a winning streak.
And we have enough woes of our own. I get little joy from Yankee pain these days, given our own circumstances...
It is always good to enjoy their misfortune.
Seize joy wherever it is found. Last night's win was a joy. Being 0.5 GB is a joy - in of itself, no matter how long it lasts or doesn't last. And NYY Schadenfreude is its own special joy.
The team-on-the-DL is awful, but today, right now, we are only 0.5 GB!
And NYY Schadenfreude is its own special joy.
Well said!!
